Who here owns a Fiesta ST?

60mm throttle body is a bit of a waste of time unless you've got cams, the engine doesn't flow enough air to get enough benefit from it without them, Mountune only found it marginally beneficial to fit the 60mm throttle with the MR200 kit and that had cams, full exhaust and the cast inlet manifold and it was only with all of that that the stock throttle body became a slight restriction.

An exhaust manifold and a map to suit will be your best option for power in addition to what you have already, then cams, then an inlet manifold, only if you're going that far would I think about changing to a 60mm throttle body.

I went expecting it to have a standard exhaust manifold and it did which said it all, because I asked the guy to go and check and he claimed he didn't know what to look for... you can't kid a kidder!

But the car was sound for the money and I beat him down some more.

Thanks Will, not aiming for much as this is just a cheapie for the time being so not willing to throw money at it like other stuff in the past... mainly tidy up a few bits cosmetically and perhaps exhaust manifold, sports cat if I can find one cheap, some kind of map or dreamscience hand held unit etc... all second hand of course to save some money :) I will cross the bigger TB off my list if it's not beneficial for the cost!

Are there any known good places who map these things and can fetch OK gains considering the cost? Or is the second hand dreamscience idea still the best way to go?

Not looked at the remapping options for the Mk6 ST for a while (sold mine in 2012 which I occasionally regret, so much character with the MR200 package), so can't recommend anywhere personally, the hardware stuff I've looked at and nothing much has been developed for them since then. Dreamscience or bluefin were always popular.

I've noticed lots of people selling Mk6 STs claiming they are Mountune 165/185 and the like, reality is most just have the Mountune cold air intake kit and some sort of cat back exhaust and a sticker or badge plonked on the back, not quite the same as the proper kits, bit of a cheek as I'm sure the sellers often know the score really. At least you knew what you were looking for though :)

I'll likely debadge the back and sell the Mountune badge for obscene money :D

To be fair with the manifold and perhaps dreamscience in race+ it'd run 165BHP easy enough from reading online. I have to say it has definitely got that "weekend car" feel, bit of a toy, so perhaps I will actually keep this to tinker with if I get something else after the house purchase. I loved my silver one to be fair, this isn't quite as tidy but it was cheap enough I guess. As it goes the silver one ran 163BHP with bigger flexi, catback exhaust, Mountune airbox with one of it's owners after me and is some what "pimped up" now with bonnet vents, splitters, black plastics etc. It'd be fun turning it into a track car/toy at a later date and enjoy it that way. I think it has more character than my Focus did in terms of how it drives, handles, is so pointy for a cheap to run shopping trolley :)

Don't see problem going from a focus to a fiesta. Good little cars, I enjoy driving Sarah's.

Make sure you keep up with the paintwork. My old red fiesta ST was I right **** to keep red.

The paint's pretty good. Anything is better than that Focus!

I actually have more of a "feeling" towards the Fez than the Focus if that makes sense. I prefer something about it. It's slower, not as refined, not as well built and a bit too small... but it has a bit of zing in the way it drives. The Focus was fast but ultimately quite boring. Never really fell for it. Nice noise though :)

I can see myself keeping this Fiesta as a toy in the future whilst I have something else for day to day, which means I must actually like it!

Tempted to get a Fiesta ST 3 through drive the deal, some good discounts on offer at the moment. I'm a little hesitant though that a facelift might be on the way soon. Anyone have any ideas when this might be?

Next year I think

There will be no facelift. The next (MK 8) Fiesta comes out in 2017 and then the all new ST will be released after that (who knows when though, I expect sooner this time around).

The current model IS the facelift Fiesta.

I can't see there being a new ST model for at least 2 years though, probably more. It is unlikely that it would be released alongside the new car at the same time ( going from Fords previous release schedules for ST versions)

Rumours of a current shape RS still persist though I think.

I think an Fiesta RS is unlikely. Can you really see them sticking about 300 hp in a Fiesta? :P

Though it would be extremely fun (and scary).

It would probably be around 250bhp with an LSD maybe, but It might be tricky to get it into a price point, because people might just opt for a Focus ST if the Focus RS is £20k or more.

Drive the deal have come back to me with a final price. £16,100 for the St3, Spirit Blue, parking sensors and style pack. Seem's like a really good price to me. Think I can do better or should I bite his hand off?
