Who here owns a Fiesta ST?

Took my top badge grill off today and gave it a lick of plastidip.

I'm moderately happy with the results but the proof is in how long it lasts. I need to do one last coat on it tomorrow as i need to do the back of the grill. I think the trick is to kind of seal the paint round the item you're spraying. It does have a strange texture though on the upper grill, i'm not sure if this is the way i have sprayed it or the underlying texture of the grill or what?

I took some pictures but they were on my phone and haven't come out very well at all. Very hard to expose for the blacks on the car when it's white and a very bright lovely day outside! :p

Get some better pictures and put them up :D! I'm interested to see how it's come out, do you have a before/after photo you could put together?

Hi, wonder if any one could help me? I have a facelift st with the 6006 cd player installed and the bluetooth module, and ive been given the Sony cd gen 1 (black with green blacklights) player from a 2006 focus. I heard these were a straight swap so i did that and it works apart from loosing a few features. The instrument cluster no longer displays the radio info such as radio station etc, and the bluetooth module no longer fully works. I have redial, but i dont have other features such as the phonebook which the 6006 has. Maybe it could be the sony cd has the wrong software as it was in a focus or something like that?

Will do. Going to have to get my proper camera out as the exposure on my phone is all wrong.

I've done the rear plastics and fog surround as well as the top grill now. I think i have sprayed my top grill wrong though as it was the first piece i did. I spray very thin layers but lots of them for the top grill but did thick covering layers for the rest which have come out a hell of a lot better.

Will try and get some pics later on today! True test is how long it'll last though.

****ing stupid b****** w*** firefox!

Just made a big post but firefox decided to mess up.... can't be arsed to write it all again.

Car is booked in next Wednesday for fat stripes to be fitted.

Half way through buying 2 very good condition alloys, which will save me from messing about with the 2 alloys i have got what need a refurb.

Alloys will be going white. Not sure what white yet, gloss, satin, matt ect

And i think a lip might be on order as i have buggered up the splitter thing on the ST the other day on a high curb whilst parking.

Sure you want to go red/white and not red/black? :p

That was the original idea, but i have seen a lad driving about in a red and black so it has put me off.

My plans for next few months:

Fat stripes (next wednesday)
2 new alloys which i am now getting
Powder coat the alloys white
Colorado red Kaylan mudflaps with white ST logo on all
Lowering springs
New tyres all around
and possibly spaces for the back wheels

Just going to say, red mudflaps really really stand out :p

Took my RS splitter off today and managed to secure the front bumper better to the lower of the chassis as the original brakets are cut off to clear the intercooler, which meant the bumper was only ever held on with the bolts at the wings, allowing the bottom to wobble about.

I ordered my Flexi the other day so should be arriving soon hopefully. Just looking got a cat back now. Then car is almost complete sort of.

Logsi, any joy with your plastidip antics yet?

my mountune CAIS got delayed so I cancelled the order until next month when I should have more cash.

I have some scratches that have started getting on my nerves and becoming more noticeable. trying to find a decent body shop to spray them is becoming tedious. but when it happens eventually, I plan on replacing my missing jack cover [sigh]

Unfortunately I am the market for some new brakes too.
looking to get OEM disks coupled with Ferodo DS2500 pads all round if budget allows.
anyone got any better suggestions?

due a service soonish too so may just get the whole thing done at the same time.
expense all round is never much fun when the money isn't being spent on anything particularly exciting. :(

Mondeo MK3 Calipers, Mintex ST170 pads and discs, you can get these two from eBay for a combined cost of around £110. 300mm braking is very nice.

not really looking to change the existing callipers. just new disks and pads are needed so may as well use the stock ones.

Since doing a better job second time round it does seems to do a good job. Looks like the normal ABS plastics but black. I think you'd only need 3 cans to do the whole lot. I still need to the big lower grill but the rest have come out nice. Still meaning to get some pictures.

Word of warning though, you need literally need to cake the item in a full coat for it to be any good. Unlike paint which i usually just put several thin layers on and built it up.

The real test is how long it's going to last.

Just went out and took some pics. Also, took my top grill off to spray again after my failed first attempt.

Here's the foglight surround. Lower grill not sprayed yet. Going to do this weekend. This was sprayed on so that it covered it fully. Not too much to create dripping however.

Here's the rear. Did both reflector surrounds and lower splitter. The hatched bumper is already pretty black so didn't bother spraying.

Here's my failed top grill. This was several very thin coats. Not the way to do it obviously. But is easily peeled off.

Respraying the top grill properly this time.

Finished the top grill now. Two thick coats was sufficient. May do more tomorrow. All the uneven paint will dry and leave a nice perfect plastic looking surface. It's still drying in the picture below.

Kinda strange how different you can make the paint look to be honest.

Nearly happy with the look of the car. Lower grill needs spraying which i'll do this saturday, unsure how to get it off so going to jack the front up and see. The plastics clips holding everything on are really only designed for one way.

Needs the lowering stick sometime in the next week. Tints and spacers. Then i'll be sort of happy with how it looks! :p

Just don't know whether to get facelift lights...

Like white, wish my car was frozen white from time to time....

As for my ST, I've got 2 new headlights coming, the ones I have that were split and painted black look great but one of them has started to crack and let in condensation. I'm going to bite the bullet and DIY these ones...

Need to speak to Mountune about stage 3 as well since I have a deposit down :D
