Who here owns a Fiesta ST?

Also about the heat comment, I can’t see it being a problem, Ford would obviously release an engine fit for purpose

You're a more trusting man than I.

Definitely prefer the looks of the previous gen to the new one too - new one looks strangely lumpy in all the wrong places. Could just be poor angles in the above photos, but it looks much more like a lower-spec model with ugly wheels stuck on.

All cars are headed in the direction of bigger turbo smaller engine (or even hybrid). I’m embracing it.
Also, every previous gen owner saying they prefer their look over the new version is such a classic scenario. Once they see the new version on the road it will grow on them with every encounter and soon be wanting one. That’s my opinion.

So it’s looking like I was right with regarding the price of the new ST. It’s being displayed at the Autosport International show at the NEC this weekend.

£23k ish. Far too much in my opinion.

God that mings!

They've utterly ruined the Fiesta with the new model. Use to look angular and funky - now it looks like just another hatchback and the front DRLs look like illuminated glasses.

Interior is horrid too - they've taken away the too many buttons and replaced with the cheapest looking 5 years ago screen I've seen inside a car in a while.

Probably right at the time when everyone else will start to move away from that "tablet" look, leaving it really old feeling in about two years

Ford seem to be losing it generally. The latest Focus looks drab compared to the previous models (for their time at least) and the less said about the interior the better.

I've seen the regular mk8 Fiesta in person and it definitely looks boring at the rear, too similar to a Polo.

Turbos aren't necessarily the future either. I think they are starting to notice they are actually WORSE for emissions in the real world compared to a bigger NA engine. At very low speed and revs (ie official testing, driving like granny) it's better, but at higher revs the emissions spike wildly on turbos. NA is more predictable and averages better.

I’m confused, are you both saying you don’t want better fuel efficiency? Also about the heat comment, I can’t see it being a problem, Ford would obviously release an engine fit for purpose

Tell that to the Mk3 Focus RS owners with blown head gaskets

That's not an issue of it being fit for purpose, it is fit for purpose had the right gaskets been fitted to the cars. It's a manufacturing defect not an inherent fault.

The base model looks more like a small C-Max/S-Max style car to me and it's hard to make one of those look sporty. The older generation definitely looks better overall in my opinion.

Looks like a B Max from the back. Out.

Spot on. I have a 208 GTi by Peugeot Sport (won't turn this into a hot hatch debate!) and the new Fiesta with that C/S Max style....to me it just looks like a squashed C max or S max. It's like they've forced that design on a small car and I don't think it works. As ever has pointed out, list prices are always a bit silly (my car list price was £24k September 2017, got it for £18k) but Ford will have more hot hatch rivals looking ahead (Toyota, Hyundai, possilbly Citreon?)

New ST just looks, meh. Side profile looks great, perhaps because it's nearly identical to the Mk7. The front is plastic fantastic and the rear is a B-Max.

Love my Mk7, thinking of selling it though if I could get the right money for it, but certainly not for a Mk8!

New ST looks as bland as the current one does, I expected to buy an ST to replace my Puma and driving one is great but it did nothing for me - it looks like a van and doesn’t sound great either and the less said about the dash the better.

Hopefully there will be an RS version that looks and sounds mad or fingers really crossed and they bring back the Puma coupe style car!

I don't know what ST you drove but mine doesn't look like a van and for a 4 pot it sounds great. The dash isn't amazing but it kept the cost down for an unbelievably fun and good car.

It was black with tinted windows, the high rising line of rear windows does it no favours imo. I looked a few pages back and saw a pic of someone’s grey ST200 and that looked loads better!

The car was great to drive, poss the best I tested and certinally between that and the RS Clio but neither did anything for me, the look back test on the ST was a fail as it just looked like a Fiesta. I was a bit worried the new one would come out and look amazing and regret my purchase but seeing the price and the looks and I’m defi not - I bought an inferior drivers car but one that connected with me and I can’t stop looking at much like when I bought a Puma over a Clio 172 back in the day!

It looks like a Fiesta because it is a Fiesta. I like the looks a lot personally and mine with the mountune front splitter looks fantastic in my opinion. I love how it's a sensible car when you want it to be and very quick and a hoot when you want it to be.

For the money I spent I don't believe I could have found a car that puts a smile on my face more.

Puma lol.

I'm interested to know what this mystery purchase is?
