Who here owns a Fiesta ST?

I need to see more strut braces going on in here to be honest!

I had one and took it off....I found it knocked against the scuttle annoyingly at startup (admittedly the poly lower engine mount I have now may change this) and it led to an incredible amount of extra vibration through the steering wheel.

The handling didn't really seem much different without it to me, and it became a much more pleasant drive, especially over long distances when the vibration through the wheel became very tiring.

You loving the new addition then Dan?

James your car looks sweet, bet that was a lot of fun with the charger! I get what you mean though about not needing loads of power, one good thing about cars like the ST is that you can have a sensible level of power and keep it on properly in corners unlike a lot of turbo'd stuff which just washes out mid bend if you're a bit too throttle happy if driving like a hero :D

Add me on msn if you want to ask anything about the car, quite happy to answer questions, you're welcome to have a look at my car at some point as well if you want to see a Mountune'd car.

Check out the FiestaSTOC.com site, Passionford.com, or fordfiesta.co.uk....

I find Fordfiestast.co.uk the best forum.

You have to pay a donation to all the ST forums to get full access which is very much worth it as they all have traders/insurers on them which give us brilliant deals :)

EDIT: DAnDan, the car looks good mate! Enjoy ;)

Good times :D Enjoy it mate.

Thanks for the offer too Will, I shall have to fire MSN up and odd you on to pick your brains :) I'm off to Newquay in a couple of weeks and upon my return I think I'm gonna get my Golf shifted and find me a nice ST. I'd love a ready done minter of a mountuned car but I think for 6k max budget it aint gonna happen...

Will check out those forums, thanks :D

If you can stretch to £6250 then there's this beauty for sale - http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2945114.htm

Only problem was insurance for me, as the companies that are happy with lots of modifications seem to only accept people aged 21 and up. A year fully comp on a normal ST came out around £900, yet the cheapest quote I could get on the above was over £8,000! Just worth bearing in mind really. It does look like a lovely car though!

Try Greenlight for cars with Mountune packs, in my experience t doesn't cost any more to insure a Mountune car as it does a 'stock' vehicle, as it is a manufacturer approved upgrade and following on from its introduction could have been specified from a new car (it would always be a dealer retro fit, but could be fitted prior to registration so essentially a factory option as far as the insurance databases are concerned).

This is a nicely specced example for the price as well:

Emailed both of those guys already, far too cheap :D I have to say I think I would prefer white or blue before red, also prefer the blue seats...

I'm 30 now, currently with Chris Knott on my Golf all mods declared and power said to be 200BHP and it's fully comp all the addons 200 quid excess and I pay 450 parked on the road.

Should think the Fiesta will be similar money maybe a bit more due to value but dont think I'll have a problem with any mods :)

I want to be way, way more picky this time around with getting a new car so I can be truely happy as I never really gelled with my Golf, although it was a cheap car I guess.

As in the cars are too cheap, or they're out of your budget? They definitely look worth it if you can stretch to it and don't discover something nasty about them along the line.

While I'm here, does anyone know if it's it's possible to use the standard radio and steering wheel stalk controls to control an iPod?

I know that you can get ipod connector inputs wired into the head unit (I think anyway?) which can then play through the same way as aux would? But is it possible to then have the ipod controlled (previous/next) through the stalk?

I'm sure its possible, might be worth having a look over at fiestastoc.com and confirming it though.

The new focus (MK3) has spray washer jets for the windscreen which I miss as the C30 had them and IMO they are so much better than the usual squirt things. So I'm going to order some and see if they can fit the ST, will keep you updated.

I got an insurance quote for a 54 plate standard ST - horrified at the quote.

33yrs
8yrs no claim
1 claim (protected) theft of audio equipment (cost £400)
no points
CR8 postcode (this I presume is the killer punch)
Kept on driveway

£708 with £200 excess

I use Greenlight and can't fault them, have been brilliant :)

I wanted to use them last year when I had my Ibiza mk2 GTi but they wouldn't insure as I hadn't had insurance for a year (was out of the country travelling). I had to go with Adrian Flux. They're TPFT cover was virtually the same price as Greenlights would have been for FULL COMP.
