Who here owns a Renaultsport?

I finally got around to fitting the new tweeters I got with my front speaker upgrade. I just went with the Pioneer TS-Q131C package, which is a direct replacement for the original speakers. Not a massive difference, but does seem better now they've bedded in a bit.

Not sure if the Tweeters make much difference, but I felt I should change them, even if it did involve removing the dash. This did give me a chance to sort out the wiring behind my head unit though, which I'd been meaning to do for about 2 months now, so now it FINALLY sits in the cage properly, yay :)

Oh, and I made a background for my Alpine unit :)

RSClio, just seen your pics in the 'Show us your motors' thread, it looks very nice indeed.

I WISH my Milltek would sit like yours does (yours is a Milltek right?) Even with new exhaust mounts, shed loads of cables ties, etc., it still drops too much for my liking.

Thank you :) You have no idea how I look after that car :D Even though it gets some driving abuse I look after it very well.

My Miltek was fitted by http://www.modtechmotorsportleeds.co.uk/brakesandclutchesleeds.html who do a bit of work for my car aswell as the MOT. They fitted it correctly with the standart mounts, took them a bit! It does move to the right when I have taken it out for a spirited drive but returns back to center, its very strange!

What common problems do the 182's have? i'm looking at a new car around may time and have seen cliosport 182's at very good prices so am thinking of going for one of them.
currently got an mgzr and they have a common problem with the head gasket, luckily i;ve had no problems with it.

There's a fantastic buyer's guide on Cliosport, you have to be a member to see it though (£12 per annum). I'm not sure it's a good idea for me to post it on here though.

It seems that whenever I have a problem, it turns out to be a 'common' problem. For me, this has included:

- Faulty heater resistor pack (fans stop working) - £120 new / £70 2nd hand
- Worn suspension parts, but I guess the same could be said for any 6/7 year old car - Ball joints, track rod ends, etc.
- Dephaser pulley - Expensive, worth getting replaced at same time as the belt kit
- Exhaust hangers - Cheap to replace, but will only wear down again
- Rattly heat shield - Quick cheap fix with new washers
- Knocking noises when accelerating - Manifold knocking on subframe, can be fixed by reseating the engine and/or replacing engine mounts
- Leaking exhaust, which I am currently experiencing. Due to crappy joins between the manifold/cat and cat/cat back

I have had incredibly bad luck though :p

Apparently there's a good buyer's guide for the 182 in the March edition of EVO. May get it just to see what they say, or wonder if it'll be online.

Well im just about to purchase the milltek system, would love the yozza but its gonna cost me about £550~ once fitted, which is quite a bit more than the milltek, for not a lot more gain. I already have the scorpion 2.5" decat, is there any reason why this wouldn't work with the milltek catback, as it states the pipe size is 2.5" aswell.

If you have your car remapped, I'm guessing you have to declare that when insuring the car? Seems like such a good thing to get done for around £350.

Yes you do have to declare it.

No way should it cost £350! As I said in a previous post, I did it myself. Bought the RSTuner for £90, then paid about £50-55 for the license and performance calibration, remapped the car, then sold the RSTuner on for £90.

If you do it that way, it's a bargain and silly not to. Just make sure you declare it :)

PS. I noticed in the Sports forum that you're a Chelsea fan. Yay :)

Depends which route you want to go tbf :) RSTuning in Leeds is (I think) recongised as one the best Renault specialists, for a custom map and rolling road figures £350 is the top mark.

The RS Tuning boxes are off the shelf maps, nothing wrong and they do the job.

Just depends what route you want to take. If all you have got is an aftermarket exhaust go the RS Tuner route. Any more mods like cams etc use a custom tuner.

And yep I would tell the insurance folk asap. Even with the exhaust. :)

Well changed my mind last minute and have gone with the RS192 catback system (i already have the decat). Hopefully will be here in a few days providing its in stock. Anybody fitted one of these them selves? Possible with a couple of axle stands?

Pahhh will be a bit of a big job if its your first. I bet the standard exhaust will be well and truly stuck!! Pleanty of banging and heating will be required me thinks :D Should be ok following guides and the like. Can see it been a mission to get it all lined up mind. Not sure if the 192 is easy to fit! Good luck :)

Oh yeah I completely agree, if you've got a whole host of mods then a custom remap is definitely worth it. I've just got a cat back system though, so for me the extra just wouldn't be worth it :)

I've not done it myself, but I've heard that most of the problems come with trying to get the old system off, some people resort to cutting the old system in half. If you've got it up in the air it's a different matter, but on axle stands you might struggle.

It's doable though.
