Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Try sky insurance (nothing to do with the tv company). They offer club insurance and were the cheapest quote I got by a long way. My current insurer offered the same but they were a pile of monkey **** so wanted to leave them asap. I have 7 points, 2y ncb and a recent claim (non fault) and my 182 is just under 1k annual.

Thumbs up to Sky Insurance from me as well. :)

Make sure you join ClioSport.net first though for a 20% discount.

Any of you chaps had a whistling noise develop when over 5000rpm? (seems to be from the rear of the car) Mine over the past 2 months or so has started doing this and it's pretty annoying, from what I've read it seems to be exhaust related but others are saying it's to do with the acoustic valve

General consensus on this is that its the fitment of the windscreen that causes the whistling. Mine does it as well, as does a colleagues. Some people have had the windscreen removed and refitted which has resolved the issue.

Ah cool :) Thanks, didn't even look at what the symbol was, was in too much of a rush! Time to turn TC off and go pull off with 4,000 revs :D

Ahhhh :D!!! If your tyres are low don't expect too much grip and a quick start! Probally get a bit of wheel hopping :D!! Please repert back.

Wheel hopping is an issue for me. The CUP suspension in the 200 makes it hard to get the power down on some of our rubbish roads.

I find it much easier in summer but I agree in winter the Clio is bad for this! A decent set of rubber helps. Its very strange, not a wheelspin its like the car is hopping on the front wheels! :D Makes an awful racket feels like the dash is about to come out, but its good fun!

Just ordered these guys :) my dad just checked the tred on my wheels and they are actually legal, 3mm of tred.

I'll be going for V12s when my current PE2s are worn completely. Will probably be in the next couple of months.

I need get my alignment sorted out as well. I'm not very happy with the car at the moment, it doesn't feel right, and the alignment/camber/toe definitely needs to be sorted, so this should help.

I've got the V12's at the moment and am very happy with them. Where did you manage to get them from? A lot of people are having problems finding them in stock at the moment.

Very odd, I presume this would be gaps in the seals etc? my car's history states it has had 2 windscreens in the past.. hmm  I'm going to presume it's not related to the whistling though :p

Surely though, If it were the windscreen, it would be whistling all the time at motorway speeds? I'm going to check my exhaust out anyway to see if there are any small holes etc!

My rears have had 4mm since I brought it back in July :p only done about 3000 miles since then. Will be swapped for V12's too. Got a few things I need checked when it goes in for a service. Shocks/springs being one of them and also so potential scrubbing/hopping when on full lock.

Going to have to get used to the attention a new sport Clio brings, had some absoloute nutcase nearly end himself trying to race me. Wasn't half as bad in my 172.

My 182 is going to JMS on Monday to have the cat mod/straight through pipe sorted. I can't wait to see what it sounds like after that, hopefully it stops my car sounding like it has terrible wind for a start. I'm hoping it's not too loud though. I'll be round the other side of the M25 in Essex getting my wheel alignment done if I have time afterwards :)

Where do you guys actually go to test out performance? Obviously I pull off like a rude-boi every time at the moment but I'm not one to drive over 30 in a 30 zone. I'm guessing you need to go down some national speed limit roads that are quite bendy.

Also when pulling off how long do you leave it in gears? Mine doesn't really seem to like first gear :( might just be me being a n00b though. Setting the revs to about 3,000 coming off the clutch slowly and slamming my foot in the accelerator, then once it has hit 3,000 revs again I put it in 2nd > 3rd at about 55mph.

If I'm giving it some then I'll take it up to around 6500-7000 revs (although it can go to 7500 with the remap I think (might be 7200)).
I don't keep it in first for too long though as if you floor it the car can be a bit tough to keep in a straight line. This could be down to my alignment being out.

Day to day though I'll regularly change it between 3,000 - 4,500 revs, depends if there is traffic in front of me or not :)

I always stick within the speed limits.
