Who here owns a Renaultsport?

While i'm here, has anybody had any problems with their alarm? Mines keeps going off at night. Seems to be only when it's raining. It had me (and probably the neighbours!!!) up at 12:30 Saturday morning and 5:30 this morning.

After doing a bit of reading the most common sensor that causes problems is the one under the bonnet, it gets wet and rusts etc. I'm going to give it a clean out to see if it helps but does anybody know how to take it out? I can't seem to figure it out!

It's so annoying having to get up to switch it off at all hours!

2 questions!

1. Can someone please give me a direct link to the skoda splitter? Don't want to order the wrong one!

Scarysquirrel, your alloys are awesome (turinis?) How much are they likely to set me back?

They are Trophy Turinis. I have Trophy ones as the offset is ET45, which is the same as the Cup packed 182 wheels :)

They cost me £100 plus my 182 wheels.

There's a good set here for £450, fitted with PE2s as well. You won't get a much better price than that. http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?562287-Genuine-Trophy-Turini-s-running-Pe2-s

Yes.

I have had it go off at night a couple of times, but not for a while now come to think of it.

I also have the common problem of the interior sensors not switching off quick enough when I unlock the car, so unlocking and opening the door straight away sets the alarm off.

Not popular late at night or early in the morning :)

Tell me about it!!!

Seems like yours could be a problem with the door switch. Mine gets stuck and I get the beeps sometimes when locking the car but a quick wiggle sorts that out!

It's really annoying that theres no quick fix for it and the alarm can't be disabled in the meantime.

I wonder how much the sensors cost and whether it's possible to buy them from Renault?

It has an immobiliser, just not an alarm. It's insured as a grey import, and they know it doesn't have an alarm, so shouldn't be a problem.

Cheeky ****er that sold it to me said it did have an alarm, and me being completely naive at the time just believed him. He was a ****! I'm happy with how the car is now, but it wasn't the best purchase at the time :(

No alarm??!! Strange! Where was it imported form?

I've never known someone have so much bad luck with a car!

My first car, i drove one day before, the bottom end went, gearbox needed rebuilding, head had a crack the size of jesus in it, clutch cable snapped, auxiliary belt snapped, exhaust had a hole in it, and the fuel tank was leaking. Good buy! :D

The imports (from France) don't have an alarm, etched windows or locking wheel nuts. It's the easiest way to tell whether it's an import or not. I guess there not required in France.

I've just been out and taken the alarm sensor out and it seems like the previous owner has already bodged it! It had loads of PTFE tape round the bottom to seal it so i've just added more for now until I get a new one.

Can anybody tell me whether there sensor has a rubber cone around it like the door sensors? Mine is just a bare plastic switch!

Ahhh I see!!

I can't help with your problem, however if locked and washing my car my jetwash sets the alarm off!! :D Not too sure why I am telling you this mind but hey!!

Sooo can't wait for the weather to get better. I have not touched my car in 2 weeks, its going to feel like a rocket when I take it for a drive! Walk to work it's only 5 mins away :)

Interestingly all UK cars don't have these from the factory, it's all added once they hit our shores iirc.

Think it was a cobra alarm that used to get installed, remember seeing the manual when I had mine.

Ha, at least I now know that I need to unlock the car next time I get the power washer out!!

Can't believe you've not driven it for 2 weeks, i'd be making up excuses to go for a drive!!

Just don't have the time! I know for a fact driving in this weather wont be too good! Really wet and greasy out there. Plus I am a clean freek and I hate getting all the grime and all the crap you get on the roads this time of year on the car! In a nice warm garage it gets treated better than me :D When it gets better, hopefully in a few weeks, it will be Scoob hunting!! ;)

Yeh I read about this and how it's all done on the dockside when there taken off the ship. Surely it must be easier to install an alarm when putting the thing toghether!

How exactly are you planning on hunting imprezas? You'd have to catch them first.
