Who here owns a Renaultsport?

cheer's for the advice this is really helpful! Rang another one earlier thats on 50k but the guy didnt even know what aux belt was (this is the one that needs doing at 36k?) and this was from a dealership! The stuff about tire's is prob true and something i never thought about

Sorry yes, i forgot to say before.

The aux belt (fan belt) needs replacing every 36k/3yrs. However it is also replaced at the cambelt service as it is slackended to replace the cambelt and it is recommended that once you've taken the tension of a belt you replace it as it is more prone to snapping.

A snapped aux belt can also take the cambelt with it so by scrimping a few quid on a large service could potentially result in a full engine rebuild

Guys for a Clio 182 doesn't the cambelt need doing too at 36k or 4 years?

Nope...

Aux Belt (Fan Belt) at 3 Years/36k which ever comes first.
Cambelt & Aux Belt at 5 Years/72k whichever comes first.

Servicing other than them to major services are your usual Air Filter, Oil & Filter, Pollen Filter jobbies.

Ahhh **** my car is a 2003 (only done 37k though), so easily 5 years+ on my belt. :(

Middo was kind enough to pc my 182 the other week, did a cracking job for me.

Richdog - have a scout on Cliosport for a recommend Renault specialist in your area as the cambelt change is quite a specialist job on the 172/182's

As are Carlton Garage down in Exmouth (and they are cheapy cheap too). Guy who runs it is a nice bloke, he's got a 5 Turbo 2 and a mk1 V6 with nitrous oxide :)

heres my 182 with recaro's

Best colour!

What are they like for running costs etc? Im considering one a a purchase but probably not until next year when ill hopefully have 2 years no claims and 3 years driving experience.

My current car has cost me nigh on £1500 over the last 2 years in maintenance alone, how do these shape up in compariason?

Cheers
