Who here owns a Renaultsport?

They dont do a stealth one for the 182 do they? Twin tail pipes all the way.

My insurance was £800 with direct line this year thats with the gf whos 21. Im 22, 2yrs ncb.

Was about £730 without the gf and legal cover

So then today i sprayed my engine manifold and fuel rail guard as well as bodge repair my heatshield :D mwahhhhh lol

I'm afraid ive got no before pictures of the engine, but basically the previous owner had started sanding it and gave up half way so was looking rather tatty. I was thinking of polishing the engine, but thought id try something a bit different....

I also slapped my stainless strut top covers on, look very good imo. Unfortunately i cant leave the engine cover on for the minute as to take it off i had to use a chisel to remove 2 of the screws the held it on as they would not budge. Also as you can see one of the pins that hold the inlet manifold on snapped so need to replace that lol.

I also noticed i had a really bad rattle when shutting the boot and at low revs. So i had a scout around and foudn that the exhaust heatshield had snapped in THREE places. Could not believe it. So heres how it got repaired....

And the poor object that sacrifised itself to repair the 182 lol.

See French cars are ace...if ever your bored theres always something to tinker with

Found one just 20miles away

172bhp, 3 Door Hatchback, Black, Petrol, Manual, FSH, MOT til 12/03/09, Taxed til 31/12/08, 4 x new Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres, recent cambelt change, A/C, Alloys, 3x3 point rear seat belts, ABS, Alarm, Audio remote control CD player, electric windows and mirrors, 3 previous owners. Very good condition, dissapointed to be selling but company car forces sale - this car must be seen!. £4,000 ONO.

Should really go and see it!

what year is the car and whats the milege?

I didnt go and see it in end turns out they had people already on the way, and it was in the town centre so <5miles away at the time :(

Was a 01 maybe 02 plate and had 45k on the clock.

Wait till i've finished uni and you can have it for 3k ;)

Looks ok Rich, all the major services have been done. It's just the belts that are the major worry on these.

must say I am really tempted to buy a cup version lol really shouldnt. Got any pics of the interior showing the rear?

Might try and go view this one tomorrow, got a good list of stuff I need to look out for so hopefully I dont get mugged :P

What are they like for running costs etc? Im considering one a a purchase but probably not until next year when ill hopefully have 2 years no claims and 3 years driving experience.

My current car has cost me nigh on £1500 over the last 2 years in maintenance alone, how do these shape up in compariason?

Cheers

Well I would say your looking at £500 a year in service and repairs if you avoid dealers, if theres dealers then the older it gets your looking at 1-2k a year. They arnt cheap but cheaper than a scoob or evo.

Im off to test drive a 182 this morning. Not sure exactly what im looking for in it and not at all sure how to tell if it has the cup packs on it or not! Do people recommend I try and get one with the cup suspension on it.

Im looking at a black 53 plate one with 31k on it, FSH. Its at a garage and its up for £7,499. Hopefully drop them £500 on that though at least :)

is it just me or is that stupidly overpriced?

Seems it to me, im looking at an 05 plate, with 42K for £6250, plus it's got the Recaro seats in, which I think were an £850 option!

It needs two new tyres and 4 new brake pads, so I'll drop him by about £4-500 I think.

From anyone's experience with clios, how much do you reckon two new tyres and 4 new pads would be? I would be having the Michelin Exalto tyres (the standard ones) which are about £90 each. So is about £300 about right for all parts and labour for that?

Also, when you get new tyres, do they do the tracking too?
