Personally I'd go for a 182 with cup packs rather than a 182 cup. The cup didn't really lose enough weight over the normal version to warrant the naff interior, loss of Xenons, Climate etc. Has to be racing blue though :) 5-6k should get you a great example in todays market.
 
Thanks for the advice guys, I went to view 2 182's today, both up for the same price but with 5k between them on the mileage. Silver looked awesome but ive had 2 silver cars already so was swayed towards the black one. Ive took it no further than that but unfortunately I cant afford to buy private and need to get whatever car I do get on finance which will mean paying slightly over the odds.

I tried to get a quote from my insurer (Direct Line) for an upgrade to a 182 and it ust kicked me off! So I need to call. Im 20 years old with 1NCB (plus 1 as a named driver) no claims or any other problems on that front. Any ideas what I could be looking at paying?

EDIT: 182 again. 18k on it on an 06 plate. £7k. seems a fairer price or is this still over the odds?

Sorry i meant a FF with cup pack, Why because i didnt like the non cupped pack 182 :)

Agreed, that is what i ment but if your looking at paying 7.5 surley the way to go is a Trophy ?

Hell yeah, 7.5 is easily trophy money, although I'd even be tempted at those prices to wait it out/scrape a little bit more and jump to a 197.

Very true BUT a lot of people that have gone from a 172 / 182 have not been that impressed with the 197 and have found it a little "numb" in comparison ....

There's no doubting the 197 isn't as raw (maybe not the right word, but you get the idea) as the 1x2, but imho it is a better car.
 
gutted! Found a nice example of a 182, in blue with 31k. It was up for £6k. Called my insurance to get a quote.....they wont touch me til im 21! Thats 8 months away! I dont think I can wait that long to rid myself of the astra.

So now on the lookout for something more sensible. I hadnt set my heart on the clio but i did like them a lot!

Never mind! Sure I will find something just as nice :)

Who are you insured with?

I'm with Bell, looking to change my car soon, and have done a few quotes with them. Was quoted £890 fully comp for a 53plate 172 Cup, 20 yr old (21 in 5 months), 2yrs no claims.

Don't know if its 182 over a 172 is significant in denying you insurance but try changing your insurer if possible.
 
Now I can finally say.........YES, YES I OWN A 182!!!!

Picked it up yesterday, and I think I am actually in love with it! Its bloody awesome! I'll put some pics up soon, put its chucking it down atm!

Can someone please advice to the legality of the front plate? Ive have the proper plates too, but am I just asking to get pulled with that on?!
