Who here owns a Renaultsport?

I havent driven that far in them yet, but so far they are really supportive and surprisingly comfortable (SO FAR!)

Im sure on long motorway journeys it will be a different story though! But then again, I didnt buy the car for comfort ;)

Went to view that 172 today, must say I am quite impressed they feel nice to drive and interiors aren't to shabby!

Downside is he's only had it 3 months and his GF is pregnant so he needs a different car. Always a bit suspicious when people say this but he seemed pretty genuine. Hes the 4th owner and it has all the stamps in the book from services (not all renault but a few are), apart from the last one which was done at 54k supposedly. It has a receipt for all the service parts and a recorded mileage on the paper just no stamp :(

Had the belts done at around 40ish all the MOT's and has a Remus exhaust?? It did have 2x brand new continental tyres but one has a nail in so he currently has a spare on which has bugger all tread left and the backs are low!

10 months MOT as well but as its up for £4k he doesn't want to go less than £3900 which to me seems steep considering its on 62k, needs 3 new tyres and is missing the last service stamp

Don't people on various Clio forums moan about the quality of the Miltek systems on a 182? Something to do with them not hanging properly?

I have read various articles stating this about Miltek with regards to the welds not being good enough, however i have heard that about most. Yozza system seems to get good ratings, however i have heard its quite "boomy"

To be honest, any system would be better than the standard system. Mine 182 is approx 3 years old and I have had to have a new CAT, center section and back box replaced under renault warranty (total cost of a new standard system is ~ £2000 including the CAT which is ~£1000)

Shadow - The panel filter is just a replacement filter that fits into the standard housing. Its meant to have better airflow and makes the engine sound more "raspy". For ~£39, its worth it over a standard filter.

I reckan you can pick up a fastchip, ITG panel and full system including decat for ~ £600. These mods will make a very noticeable difference at low down torque, and smooth the power range out. Do you notice no grunt upto 5,000 revs, then an almighty kick up the ass when you hit 5k?

Also stick to Mich Pilot PE2's. I've had Eagle F1's, and the Pilots are so much better on this car.

LOL! Tbh, I havent even gone up to 5k yet! God knows what the power's like if you say there's no grunt until 5k. To me it seems bloody rapid already, and Ive only gone up to 4kish!! But bear in mind my previous car was a 1.2 clio!!

Im not being an old man, it's just I want to be VERY sensible with this car, for someone who has driven an old 1.2, this 182 is a HUUUUGE jump.

Ive also been very impressed with the low down torque, I like not having to change down to accelerate quick. But of those mods youve suggested improve it more, then I will certainly consider it in the future.

As for tyres, Im having two new PE2s fitted tomorrow :)

Should I walk away from that car i see today? Pretty concerned about the fact its missing its last service stamp. The guy worked at renault supposedly and did the work himself. It shows on receipts that he bought it.

Plus I really don't think this lad will back down from £3900

Rentech are a fantastic garage down in portsmouth. If i was in the market to buy a clio i would look at that one. Seen quite a bit of track most prob but then again it would have been very well looked after

Could have sworn I had seen this car before - I saw it on Saturday when I was down in Portsmouth getting my 182 serviced. Surprise surprise I click on the cliosport link and it's Mike's car (from Rentech, where I had my car serviced...)

Looks almost too good to be true! Will see if I can make it down and see this one :)

As said, it's a phase 1 model rather than the facelifted ones you've been looking at, not a bad thing though ;) (and black phase 1s are the best, not biased or anything :p)

does look good mate
i think its a 2001 model, although he doesent say, prefacelift front-end (but the newer lights i.e. clears

im going to get a 2002+ model becuase of the facelift, more safety features, cat 1 alarm+imobiliser etc

Well no need for him to say imho, it's obvious looking at it that it's a phase 1 :) All looks totally standard.

No more safety features on a phase 2 over a phase 1 (I think) and the phase 1 has a cat 1 alarm and immobiliser as well (and some phase 2s were available in 2001).
