Who here owns a Renaultsport?

I usually average 33-34 MPG over 200 odd miles, and on motorways 40MPG is easily achieved.

Are you resetting the MPG counter when testing then watching it when cruising?...should eventually stabilise, 25MPG is pretty awful!

(Probably a good idea not to mention doing 90mph for 10 miles) :p

Cheers mate, how do I reset the trip? Not a clue how

Select the MPG counter with the stalk button, then press the button between the rev counter and the speedo and it should reset...then it should start counting again after having driven 400 odd yards. Should be pretty easy to find :)

If I absolutely had to spend £900 on my car, it would go on some decent suspension and setup.

On that subject, how well rated are H&R coilovers?

Just ordered some OMP subframes, so will hopefully have the buckets in soon. Playing a waiting game for some decent harnesses to come up cheap, but i think i might crack and just buy some new eventually. Went out tonight and adjusted the height of the front coilovers, much better now and have no rubbing even when pushing hard. Going to get the rears on this sunday, leave it all for a week and then get the whole car aligned.

First impressions of the coilovers is good. Turn in seems much sharper and far more flat through the corners. This might just be because my old shocks had 50k on them, but regardless, it feels a lot tighter.

I can't speak for the clio but I just had a set of the H&R monotube coilovers (the pricier ones at around 900 quid, not the cheaper twin tube setup) fitted to my fiesta st on Tuesday, and I tell you what, I am impressed!

On my car they replaced a bilstein b8 damper/h&r 35mm spring combo (collectively sold as the b12 kit), which is generally rated as amongst the best setups under a grand for my car and better than most similarly priced coilovers, but since I have gone for a smaller wheel size I wanted to go lower, this was the reason for my change, as in handling terms the bilsteins were cracking to start with but were a fixed ride height..

Anyway, the new H&R setup is wound to sit lower than the non adjustable bilsteins ever were, but the ride is equally as good and handling far better, so flat through the bends now. I feared going lower on coilovers would be less comfortable than a fixed height set of matched springs and dampers...but thus far they're excellent, even when wound properly low.

Interestingly the dampers on the h&rs are also made by bilstein.. remove the dust cover and behold the bilstein logo!

Yep, I'm well aware that the dampers are Blistein that is part of the attraction as my first choice would have been B14s, but they do not make them for the 182 cup fitment.

Encouraging words though, I think they may be the winner. Did you research refurb prices before buying? I'm actually looking at a set second hand for £550 (Although, I don't plan on paying quite that much :D)

Clutch cable went again.

I have some funny inclination that something deeper is trying to tell me it's having issues. On goes another cable  :p cba this weekend.

Mike - I did research them and came to the same conclusion - essentially they are height adjustable versions (or at least, equivalent to in standard of build and technology) the b12 spring/damper combo. The rear dampers on mine for example appear almost identical in every way to the b8s that came off, bar the labelling, and of course the coilover comes with an adjustable spring seat

The whole bilstein and h&r range overlaps extensively and either company re-labels the others parts - the PSS9 coilovers seem to be sold exclusively under the bilstein branding here, for example, but are sold as a h&r branded product also called PSS9 in the states.

I haven't looked at refurbishing options at all to be honest, and I struggled to find anywhere selling them for the fiesta - all the bigger st specialists like jamsport etc sell other products and don't stock anything by h&r, so finding a second hand set for sale would have taken a while since few people have bought them for the fiesta. Always love new shiny bits to!

Here's a question, anyone do an LSD for the clio? Common mod? Seems rare from what I can tell!

Quaife or Gripper would be your people for that, seriously good stuff expensive as hell though.

Avanti also do Group A internals for JB3 boxes, ie Renault 19 16v / Clio. Will do other boxes now also.

Sometimes come up in the communities/racing scenes, keep an eye out on ebay.fr as well for gearbox goodies.

I got one in my fiesta already thanks, courtesy of Quiafe and jamsport ;)

Expensive I agree but oh so good...will back out of the thread at this point lest I be accused if stirring up trouble by mentioning a fiesta in the same breath as the clio (which I think is a cracking car btw, hence reading this thread despite not owning one!)

I will pick up something used eventially, I'm not buying a gearbox worth more than twice the car ;)

http://cgi.ebay.fr/Plaque-Circlips-...1755?pt=FR_JG_Auto_Tuning&hash=item20b82fc4ab

These are handy for people with popping dif circlip/worn groove problems running jc5s/jc3s, get engineer to tap screw holes into gearbox casing and it bolts over circlip to hold it in place.

Also handy for peace of mind if you know you'll be ragging it.

Biohazard, the mount for the outer cable on the gearbox side is adjustable, have you checked this for good alignment? (airbox needs to come out).

LSD would make me happy, but the last time I had a quick search, it was over £800 for a Quaiffe unit!

On this the guide arm is only bolt off and on. Its the clutch it isn't the only symptom.

I have an original valeo kit sat there just cba and partial resenment. It'll also need new pivot bush (have), release fork would be good practice (don't have), new OE cable(have), whole pedal assembly (don't have).

In mean time I have another cheap ass factor cable this time to ride it out till I cba or clutch goes, it's pulled bite back down to the bulkhead which was surprising. Although... the cable is expanding with engine temp which starts to change that a bit, but it was £6 gypo effort and temporary so.... comedy gold! :p

Ah, on mine the guide arm bolts to an enlarged "hoop" on the gearbox, allowing some adjustment.

I pulled mine off when fixing (read: bodging) the PAS pipe and have a feeling it's moved as the clutch operation has picked up a rather annoying creaking sound.

Automatic adjuster in the pedal assembly on this, it's around that where the cables normally snap on these. The various fiddly plastic components and spring which can wear(hence the pedal assembly in my list which I don't have). Should get it but probably won't, I might just pull that one out and have a look make sure nothing obvious is wrong with it.

Need to find my missing axle stand before I can do anything.
