Well no need for him to say imho, it's obvious looking at it that it's a phase 1 :) All looks totally standard.

No more safety features on a phase 2 over a phase 1 (I think) and the phase 1 has a cat 1 alarm and immobiliser as well (and some phase 2s were available in 2001).

Parkers are wrong then, as they say the later model has?

That seems a bit expensive, even for you there i mean

I insured my RX8 at 21 for £780 with 3 years NCB, granted - it was £1500 the year before!

These must be pretty quick to have such an insurance premium? I know nothing about them ;p
 
LOL! Tbh, I havent even gone up to 5k yet! God knows what the power's like if you say there's no grunt until 5k. To me it seems bloody rapid already, and Ive only gone up to 4kish!! But bear in mind my previous car was a 1.2 clio!!

Im not being an old man, it's just I want to be VERY sensible with this car, for someone who has driven an old 1.2, this 182 is a HUUUUGE jump.

Ive also been very impressed with the low down torque, I like not having to change down to accelerate quick. But of those mods youve suggested improve it more, then I will certainly consider it in the future.

As for tyres, Im having two new PE2s fitted tomorrow :)


Good choice with the tyres, new tyres are a great mod in their own right.

I also drive a 205 gti 1.9 8v, which has a lot of torque from very low revs, great for the back roads. I notice a big difference between the 205 and 182 in terms of this.

I really want to try the fastchip out on the 182 as its meant to really help with this issue.
 
What happened????

Finally got mine repaired last thursday. Replaced my 3rd Yozzasport system as it developed the same fault AGAIN and they are unable to find out what is causing it (I have spoken to 3 other people over the past 2 weeks with the same issues). I replaced it with a K-tec recessed system, took Yozzasport 3 weeks to get back to me about replacing the faulty system and to be honest I was fed up with all the issues of the system :(

Also got DS2500's up front with Brembo HCs and braided lines with new pads/discs at the rear too, I cannot believe how much difference they make. Definitely recommend that setup :) Also had a new c/f front splitter fitted and replaced a cracked front foglight. Labour + foglight cost me £210, the guys at Birchdown fixed mine :D
 
Doing approx 50mph over a hump in the road and the car developed a metallic grinding noise. Got out had a look underneath, checked drive shafts [common fault] and the brakes but all seemed fine.

Got back in and again doing about 50 mph i went to grab 3rd gear. Front wheels locked up. No drive, no gears!

Apparently the box decided to try and stay in 2nd whilst also attempting to select 3rd! A1 Gearboxes said "it's the most damage they have ever seen in any gearbox"!

Not a single gear was salvageable so a rebuild was pointless.

Im really interested in buying a 182, as the normal alloys can easily be swapped for the anthracite one whats the easiest way to know your getting both the cup packs?

Do all 182 has ESP?

ESP - As far as I know yes. I have a 182FF (both cup packs) and it has ESP. Why are you asking about the ESP if I may be so bold to ask? Seems a bit of a weird question for someone looking to buy one.

Anyone looking to have performance tweaks on their 172/182 should checkout GDI [Grey Devil Industries] Cannot big them up enough. Maybe a bit of a travel for most but worth it as there is little these boys cant do. Had a quick blast in a 182 running a Omex ecu and ITB's that they have prepared and it blew my socks off!

What sort of power was that little beast putting out mate? about 220? Im considering a couple of little mods for the 182 shortly. Just ordered some braided lines, thinking about getting matched inlets and possibly a remap.
 
yeh just over 220,felt like a lot more but they assured me it was 220. They do a lot of performance packages and well worth a call. They have a 800BHP Dodge Viper there at the moment, flame spitting beast it is.
