Who here owns a Renaultsport?

On the subject of oil in the other thread, today when I turned the ignition on I was presented with 'oil ok' as a message and it didn't disappear until I pressed the trip button. Anyone else had this?

Would stay on for a short while when I had it but never normally more than about 15-20 seconds. I can't recall acurately how long it would display for. Have a quick check of the oil with the dipstick :)

Here you go :)

Not really sure what the point is in stripping the car out, especially if it's a car you drive every day. I'm sure the gains are absolutely minimal yet you have the increased road and exhaust noise plus have to drive surrounded by rough, unfinished pieces of metal and cables.

Is it really worth it?

There is some weight to be saved with a stipped interior.

However, it all depends on the individual. I have known people who drive an Elise as a daily driver, and thats hardly the hight of luxury.

alexisonfire's car is more of a track weapon that he happens to drive daily than an everyday car he just stipped for the lulz.

I don't drive to work. The plan is to keep my Clio as a toy, in which case I will probably strip it.

I will strip mine eventually, but only when I move close enough to a track. The current one is nearly 150miles away and just can't justifie it at the moment.

Here are a few pics of my 172 after a wash today. I've had the car a couple of months now so I've got a feel for the things I want to change.

Firstly those wheels, I hate them with a passion, ideally I'd like some Oz F1's.

The dealer plates need to go, tempted by a 3/4 front plate but don't fancy being pulled.

The exhaust, far too much boom at any speed, would like a Yozza or BTM.

You probably can't tell on the pics but the headlights are faded and discoloured, something I will be fixing soon.

Other than that I'm just going to change all fluids, new pads and discs with braided lines, some decent rubber and maybe some stickers.

Looking good Gaverick, i do like oz f1's ( even had a set for 2 days :p ) when i got some free cash i will probably get a set in black for daily wheels and keep the 2118's with some 595rsr's on for track, not to mention i can't bare the thought of curbing them.

My front number plate has always been a bit flappy as its only held on with double sided tape, and yesterday it came half off so i've ripped the whole thing off for now incase it fell off when driving. Really is a shame we need front plates in this country, cars look so much better without them!

Little iphone piccie! :D

Thanks for the comments guys, coming from a Fabia vRS the Clio is so much more fun and involving to drive, not to mention how much better the grip and handling are. It doesn't have the same punch as the Fabia when you floor it but pulls for a lot longer and sounds so much nicer.

The exhaust is some unknown make stainless item that was fitted when I bought it, I've had it off but no mention of manufacturer anywhere. It is so boomy I was convinced it was blowing, but after many checks it appears to just be the noise it makes. I would prefer something that is raspy/throaty up the revs but quiet when tootling and on the motorway.

I'm just waiting to start my new job at the end of August which will give me some money to do the things I want to do.

That 172 looks smart, nice one.

And I agree with Vigoro, it looks better with the plate namely because there's an indent on the bumper for one. I think if this wasn't there and it was continually smooth then it would look alrite.

The 172 wheels drive me mad. Picking up some anthracite F1s at the weekend though :)

I'm jealous, I've seen quite a few good deals on F1's lately but since leaving my job in May and the new one not starting until August I've had to restrain from buying them.

Finally finished doing my headlight correction, and being honest I'm well chuffed with how they've turned out  still the odd scuff here and there but you have to be 20cm from the headlights to see them really.

I went and bought a Silverline power drill sanding & polishing kit today (didn't use the sand paper pads as I had already sanded by hand with fine sandpaper so not to damage the headlights indefinately) and just used the lambswool pad that was included in the box and attached it to a drill.

I used Meguiars Plast-X on the pad and just started lightly buffing the headlights until the finish started to look respectable and clear. Each headlight took about 10-15 minutes. Here are the pics anyway as I'm sure you've all skipped reading this anyway :p apologies for the rain drops!
