Who here owns a Renaultsport?

If I could get it for under £3500 then I'd feel that is indeed very cheap for a car to chuck aound. It seems it has quite a lot of kit too.

Oh WTF? Who cares about the decals?

The Clio is hardly a buy and forget car - they are not cheap to run or maintain as I'm sure a few owners on here will attest to. Given that you have two cars already, I fail to see where the Clio fits in.

Tyres

I know I need a set of track day wheels, but the rate as which I destroyed the sidewalls on my new Conti SC3's at Snetterton a few weekends back was unbelievable, and before anyone shouts at me saying I can't drive and that my tyre pressures were all wrong, is wrong. :p

Can get Michelins fairly cheap through the work contract, any reviews from people on here of them? Or any other suggestions?

And it's your money at the end of the day Princey do what you want! As a fun car the 1*2 offer amazing value for money, for the performance they give.

Why not just sell the monaro and get something else, seems you are unhappy with it the way you keep looking at other cars :p

RS clio was designed to be used with PE2's, and i have to say, its probably the best road tyre i've used (on the clio anyway). I had F1's before, and the PE2's are noticeable gripper, with much more feeling. Road tyres are always going to suffer from sidewalls collapsing on track, get yourself some track tyres. Generally, the 595rs-s is suppose to be as good, if not better than R888's on most cars, but i have heard the clio works particularly well with R888's.

Today was a good day :)

Bedford was epic! No issues (short of the airbag light coming on after moving the seat). No brake fade and some epic track sessions.

And then collected my 15s on the way home so now have to decide what to do about wheels.

Bedford is a great track! Perfect for first timers as there is nothing to hit, so plenty of space should you get it a bit wrong (which I did... a few times :))

I go through phases were I want cars. Even with a Veyron, after a few months I'd be thinking about other cars.

Trouble is finding a car that ticks all the boxes.

Sometimes it just can't be done.

A performance car thats a precision driving tool ... like say a BMW M3 CSL is going to scratch a specific itch. A desire to drive a honed, lightweight, precision driving instrument. But that isn't going to fulfil your desire to drive a car with presence and Hell's own exhaust note like a Muscle car will.

But then, driving the muscle car won't fulfil the same brief that the CSL does, being the precision driving instrument.

You just can't have it all unfortunately. Some people are happy with their compromises. Like fox. Once he's made his mind up he'll be happy for years. But i think me and you are the same princey, we'd always be wanting to change as different styles of cars appeal at different times.

I don't know what all the fuss about is - the Monaro is the perfect car to be flamboyant and **** around in, while still being reasonably comfortable when the mood does not take.

As for tyres - I don't bother using tyre shine on my PE2s any more, as it's usually scrubbed off within a few miles :D

Skeeter - were your tyre pressures high enough? The tyre looks like it's just about to dismount the rim!
