Who here owns a Renaultsport?

What else did you purchase? If you don't mind me asking?! Obviously the discs, pads etc?

i bought the brembo discs, ferodo ds2500 pads and HEL braided lines from Auto-Nation.co.uk

fitted the discs and pads are pretty straight forward, although daft as it sounds you have to file the ends of the pads down a tiny bit as its a tight fit if you dont, you need it to have some movement (1mm top and bottom) in the carrier, as if its too tight the pads will squeal.

hope this helps

Always good to know :)

Biggest problem for me wouldnt be following the guide (pretty detailed and looks straight-forward) it's the fact I don't have all the tools! Would need some axel stands, torque wrench, spanners etc....

tbh, i just used a trolley jack and you just need a 13mm, 17mm and 18mm spanners and a t30 bit to take the brake disc off.

also need some brake cleaner and some copper grease

Free inspection/disagnostics at Renault dealers at the moment ('Summer Health Check')

Free triangle, first aid kit & hi-vis jacket

Booking mine in soon as it's free so why the hell not! I will of course take it elsewhere for the work rather than have to live on the streets to afford their prices!

Having just seen the Brembo HC discs for £45 a 'score' on one of mine is looking like an excuse to upgrade :D

What have peoples experiences been with uprated pads? Any to avoid?

Probaly go with the ds2500 pads but would appreciate any input :)

Hi guys,

Is there anywhere I can read up a Q&A on these.

I've saved up quite a lot over the years and still have a year of uni left to go. I was going to wait until after uni to get a more pricey car but these look too much of a bargain and I couldn't believe how much the insurance on Bell has gone down now I'm almost 22. (They want just over £680 for 10 months if anyone is interested, that's only 1 year NCB. They'd also insure me on a Nissan GTR/10 reg 911 Turbo for £2k lol got to love them really)

Wouldn't really want to spend more than £4k on one of these and I'd much rather get a 'decent' one than a value one with high mileage. Then would keep a grand spare for running costs/insurance. Any ideas what the depreciation is likely to be after a year? Not interested in the 'cup' one I wouldn't track it and I'd rather have the extra 'luxuries' although I'm not sure what they are :D

I absolutely love the new shape F1 R27 though, I'd do anything for one of those. I guess at the end of the day it's effectively the same car only with a more modern appearance?

Sign up to Cliosport (www.Cliosport.net). Wealth of information there, only a tenner a year, worth it for some of the info imho.

The 197/200 is quite a different car tp drive than the 1x2 series. Even though a lot of people (mainly those who haven't driven a 197 :p) say the 182s are better for me the 197 is the nicer car.

With a £4k budget, you're looking at a high mileage/ragged 182 or a lovely 172. Perhaps save another £1000 and £5k will get you a great example :)
