With a £4k budget, you're looking at a high mileage/ragged 182 or a lovely 172. Perhaps save another £1000 and £5k will get you a great example
The problem is £5k is closer to Mini Cooper S territory and that's something I've always wanted, bar the fact at uni, 99% of the time, anyone driving a mini is a spoilt brat/daddy's girl - don't like that image.
I'm having a look on Pistonheads at the moment. Which models have the twin exhausts at the back? I'm not buying a car with a 2.0 litre engine that climbs to 62mph in 7 seconds that could also pass as a bog standard 1.2.
