Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Okay guys, just had a real think. I am not going to spend any more than £3,500 on the car! I need to be realistic here and not get in money troubles. For that money I can get a very nice 172 or a 182 like this?

I'm looking for it in that color with the sports seats! That's not possible with the 172 is it?

When you say sports seats, do you you mean the Recaros? Or the ones shown in the 182 you've linked to?

With regards the colour, the closest you'll get (and by closest, I mean practically the same) is Mondial Blue, which is the colour the 172 Cups came in. In which case you will get a pretty basic interior I think. I'm not clued up on 172s though so I could be wrong.

If you really thought about it you wouldn't buy a hot hatch whilst working 1 day a week... come on man I know its tempting but just hold out until things are more stable and you land yourself a full time job!

Just because you've come into some money dont go ****ing it up the wall straight away! :(

You have a point mate, you really do. But If it came to 'needing to be stable' I could easily get loads of overtime in Tesco (hope it wouldn't come to that!)

Well, I just hope what happened to me doesn't happen to you! (bought car for £4,900, then 6 weeks later it dropped a valve and I needed a new engine, with a new engine came new belts, clutch, etc. Cost me about £2k to get it back on the road) :(

Nothing stands out, but I'm not really the best person to ask, I don't know a massive amount about cars. Definitely go and view it though, and take someone who does know a thing or two :)

I'm going to email you something which might help as well.

Just rung him up, cambelt he says has never been changed! If I could get the car for £2,500, how much would a cambelt job be?

Wow, thanks for the e-mail mate!

I'd be a bit concerned about other things he may not have had done if the belts haven't been changed.

You're looking at about £270-300 for cam/aux belt kit fitted if it's a cup (which it is), nearer £470-500 if it isn't (standard 172/182)

EDIT: Cam belt should have been changed at 32k on RS Clios by the way, so it is well over due.

Such as tyres and oil? Trying to think of other things that need to be maintained.

There's a 172 Cup on ClioSport.net for £3,250, and it looks to be well looked after and has a lot of choice mods.

I have decided to sell my Clio cup as I have now been given a company van so don't get much use out of it. It's always been garaged and has been on the Clio sport stand a few times. The car drives without fault and has a very strong engine and gearbox that has covered 85k with belts changed twice and has no faults whatsoever it comes with the following

H&R coilovers
Hill power induction kit
Full stainless steel exhaust system
Just had the speedlines refurbished in anthracite
4 new Yokohama prada spec 2 tyres
Brand new genuine reanault sport mats
Bullets sprayed in anthracite with yellow writing
Si group buy tow eye
Omp front and rear strut braces
New brembo discs and Renault pads
Car will have 12 months mot and tax till feb

This car is in excellent condition and needs nothing.

If you're serious about getting one, I'd highly recommend paying the £12 to become a member over at ClioSport.net so you can buy from a forum member.

Yeah, make sure it won't need new tyres in a couple of months as well.

If I were buying one it would either be a 172 Cup or the full hog with a 182 Trophy.

I guess it depends where your priorities lie; if you want something fun and raw then the 172 cup is probably a better buy, otherwise if you want something with a few more "mod cons" then a 182FF is going to be worth the little extra outlay.

I went to the RR meet in Leeds at RS Tuning not so long back, less than a month! Cracking turnout and a good day :) If it was further up north I sure, but its too far from me :P

Well that car i was posting about seemed perfect...a little too perfect infact. Done some checking and its actually a CAT D, which he didn't tell me. Grrrr

Still viewing another one wednesday morning though, will be interesting to see how it compares to the R27

Siiiiigh my insurance quote just went through the roof. When I enter 'date purcahsed' (2011) it goes up to £1680. Why can't I just pretend I bought it years ago but am looking for a new quote?
