Who here owns a Renaultsport?

I just went for the cheap Ktec coilovers. They seem to have a fairly good reputation on ClioSport from users who just want something a bit firmer and lower for day to day road use, not on the track.

Apparently they're the same (rebranded) coilovers as ones that Raceland used to sell at the beginning of the year for around £160-200. Then something happened which means that Raceland don't sell them any more, but K-tec have basically the same set, rebranded, for nearly double the price. Gutted I missed the boat on that one.

Fingers crossed I can fit them myself without breaking too much :p
It's going to be a busy week, got new brake discs to fit all round, and some new speakers as well :D

Heard good things about them for road use from people on ClioSport. Seem to be really good for the price.

Fitting should easy enough and you can do the discs while your at it.

Do you think if I painted them red and didn't like them it would be easy enough to go over them again in black? Assuming I used a wire brush to get most of the red off?

Painted mine silver while they were on the car. Just make sure not to paint the pads otherwise it looks retarded! Though if you're changing the discs you'll have the caliper half apart anyway so might as well paint it with the line still attatched but not assembled.

What did you opt for? Brembo HC's & DS2500's were probably the best decision I made!

I was looking at Brembo HC's & Mintex M1144 pads. Have you got any experience with these?

People say they fade quicker on the track but are just as good on the road and there a lot cheaper than the DS2500's.

Brembo HCs and my current pads (which I assume are Renault ones), which have plenty of life left in them so just going to reuse them. Is that ok to do?

Best bet is to head over to CS and search, there's hundreds of threads about pad recommendations. I just went for the DS2500's due to the recommendation and not wanting to have to buy twice.

Should be fine, that's what I plan on doing when I either sell the car or the DS2500's wear down.

Coilovers on. My God, I hurt! Bleeding hands, back ache! I spent about 5-6 hours on Saturday just getting the fronts on. Had some issues along the way (obviously), which included having to go into town to get a breaker bar (or the nearest thing I could find) so I could actually undo the hub bolts.

I got the rears on today in about an hour and a half and then spent about an hour faffing with the right height. I get a fair bit of rubbing from the front at the moment, so need to sort that out. Despite the rubbing, and from the short drive I've had, I'm really impressed so far with the comfort and handling, bearing in mine I have only set them up myself as a best guess.

This is how it sat before I adjusted anything properly. Backs as low as they go, and the fronts pretty low. I'd love to keep it like this but the front wheels were rubbing A LOT!!

What size profile are the tyres? I get serious rubbing if fitted with 205/50/16 So I have to use a smaller set, 195/45/16!!!

Car looks cracking mind!! Very nice work :)

Thats standard yep. But 50s can be cheaper and a better ride so some fit these! Doubt SS has mind, so just an idea :) Mine sits around the same height and I get nothing at all. In fact mine looks a bit lower.

Never heard of people fitting a 50 profile on 1*2's before. Not sure i would have ever done that to my 182 personally but thats just me. Once you start changing tyre sizes you start messing with the speedo readings etc as well.

It happens. I only got 50s fitted as they didnt have 45s in the brand I wanted! Cue 5 mins of me driving and getting them swapped asap. Some serious rubbing.

I'm on standard 205/45/16.

I've done a load of reading tonight and have seen that a lot of people do a little bit of tinkering with the arch liner. I've just been out with the Dremel and removed the culprit, however I couldn't remove the metal bracket which is the next problem.

I took and test drive and it's MUCH better, very very slight scrubbing if I really throw it into a right (the kind of sudden turn you'd do if you were trying to avoid something). Rubbing on the driver's side when taking a fast corner quite hard (pushing it more than normal leisurely driving).

Clio looking nice and

Great seeing what you've done to it considering the problems you had to start off with. How much you spent on mods so far SS?

I wouldnt worry too much, just more of the noise thats the issue I think. How is it like going over bumps and such?

It's not so bad over bumps now, it's just when cornering hard and fast that's the issue.

I'd rather not add it up to be honest :p

I've not done much though, and certainly nothing out of the ordinary :)

Hopefully viewing a 04 plate 182 on wednesday (gonna ring the guy in the morning). Its done 54k, has new ktr coilovers, and has had a cambelt + alternator belt change, anything else i should look out for at this mileage?
