Who here owns a Renaultsport?

How about this one Gustov? Although it is a little pricey - http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif.../postcode/wd49hd/page/4/radius/1500?logcode=p

Also that one you're looking at is missing an engine cover. Not a big issue but a bargaining point.

To be honest with you Maccy, if i can get one with lower mileage for a lower price then I think I'm just better to bide my time.

The one with the missing engine cover is a possibility, If it's still there Sunday I'll probably buy it.

How much would that steering wheel burning be to sort out by the way? Just checking for bargaining reasons! But yea your girfriend's dad's clio looks mint.

Honestly don't know, have a search on CS.

That 182 was amazing and had a remap with K-Tek last year, improved the car a lot and smoothed at the power delivery across the rev range.

Decided against the one above! Looks like there's a massive scratch near the exhaust and I don't like what he's done with the exhausts themselves.

Just read from a good source that a way to tell if it has the cup suspension is if the car has Xenons.

Might go look at this one in the next couple of days

That only means that it isn't a cup. The xenons came standard on the 182 but were removed from the cup version. You can have a 182 with no cup packs but it will still have xenons.

You can get it retrimmed by the guy on cliosport for about £150 or a new wheel from Renault is about £300+ so not far off £400 fitted.

If your looking at a 182 one thing to remember is there two type (Trophy excepted)
There the 182 (with the cup spoiler and suspension packs) this has climate leather seats (well part) and xenon’s etc. This is sometimes called the full fat on here its not anything official just the name the forum often uses.

Then there’s the 182 Cup this has both suspension and spoiler/splitter packs as standard but doesn't have the leather seats xenon’s or climate (air con instead).

Talk about confusing. So does the car above have the cup suspension or not

I'm guessing it does going by the information above.

the problem is the ability to get most of the Cup bits on a non Cup car (I hate it when manufacturers do this).

Short of checking out the suspension im not sure there is any way to find out. Is the 182 Cup suspension a wider track than the standard (like it is for the 172?). If so the offset of the alloys (providing there still the ones that came with it) could tell you?

After seeing a really nice one out and about today I'm once again thinking of getting a 182 :(.

@Gustov: There's a few different versions with confusing names...

The Clio 182
This is the normal 182. Came with Sports Seats, Climate Control, Air Conditioning, Xenon Headlamps, etc.
Pretty good standard equipment for a french hatchback of the time! Heck BMW still have Xenons as a cost option on the 5-Series :p.
  • Cup Appearance Pack - This was an option on the 182. Consisted of a front splitter and a bigger rear spoiler (known as the 'Cup' Spoiler).
  • Cup Suspension Pack - This was an option on the 182. Consisted of better suspension (known as 'Cup' suspension) and different wheels.
The Cup Suspension has a lower ride height, stiffer springs (20% front, 15% rear), re-rated dampers (+20% front, +10% rear), strengthened front wheel hub carriers and revised steering geometry.
A Clio 182 with both of these Cup Packs is referred to by the internet (but not Renault) as being Double Cupped or being a Full-Fat 182. A FF 182 is what I personally would buy.

Note that fitting the spoiler and splitter are dead easy and wheels are easily changed. Whilst the 'Cup' Suspension is different it's hard to see unless you know what you're looking for. ScarySquirrel in this thread on his 182 has replaced his normal (non-Cup) Suspension with coil-overs, added the spoiler and splitter, and changed the wheels.

The Clio 182 Cup
This is the purists version of the 182. It has the same engine/seats as the normal 182 but for weight-saving does not have Climate Control (manual Air-Con instead) and does not have Xenon Headlamps.
As standard the 182 Cup has the 'Cup' Suspension and 'Cup' Spoiler.

The Clio 182 Trophy
This is the Ultimate 182. Based on the 182 Cup.
"Think of the 182 Cup as a madras and the 182 Trophy as a vindaloo". Not cheap though! There were only 500 of them, and all in Capsicum Red paint. Like the 182 Cup, Xenon Headlamps etc are omitted for weight saving.
Based on the 'Cup Suspension, the Trophy's Suspension is even better. It has Sachs Remote Reservoir Dampers that cost 10 times as much, but improve damping control at all speeds, improve traction and reduce body movements. I highly doubt that I personally am a good enough driver to appreciate the fancy suspension of the 182 Cup!
The wheels are different again, Speedline Turinis in anthracite (the same design as those used on the 172 Cup) saving 1.3kg each in unsprung weight.
The Spoiler is bigger again - the same one as on the Clio V6.
The Trophy also had different seats - some nice Recaro Buckets seats and are mounted a little lower than those in the standard variant. These were then a £££ option in the normal 182 and 182 Trophy. A retrofit guide is here.

Hope that clears it up for you :).

The trouble is its difficult to tell from looking weather a standard 182 has the Cup Suspension Pack.

EDIT: and it looks like the offset doesnt help you, as the 182 and 182 Cup use the same offset as standard!

Unless you know exactly what your looking for in suspension components, or can find the documents for the original order, your kinda stuck :(

172's are much simpler :)

Am i right in thinking the RS192 is the best exhaust available for the 182 at the moment? The power gains seem very impressive if true (192bhp on a standard car, hence the name), and i really like the subtle sports sound. Can't really complain about the price either! Anything else better out there?

People say its one of the best but is an absolute pain to fit. a lot of the specialists won't fit them for people as there that hard to get aligned properly!

The K-Tec exhaust is recommended by a lot of people.

Over at ClioSport.net Yozza exhausts are probably the most highly regarded in terms of quality, for me though I don't like the look of the tailpipes and also it's a tad too loud and raspy for me.

Milltek get a lot of stick for being a pain to fit, and also for their quality. However if you buy new you get a lifetime warranty anyway so not a massive issue. I have a Milltek and I love it, it looks great, and the deeper sound of it is perfect for me.
