Who here owns a Subaru?

That's either remarkable or wrong

If it's on the drop-down menu then they are talking about a factory fit, as the model then becomes "WRX STI Type UK PPP". But it does not usually apply to retro-fits where the model is a "WRX STI Type UK" with a modification; for reasons no insurer seems able to explain. You'd need to phone them to be certain. Whether it could be construed as lying to the insurer to claim the former when you have the latter is a matter I'll leave for a lawyer.

As for the specialists not quoting for children living in hovels, that's why people like me get cheap insurance!

New bits ordered today from htauto:

Front splitter
Rear diffuser
Side skirt extensions (been asking these to be made ever since I saw them on a Scoob in Singapore many years ago:D)

Sunday I've got a guy coming round to fit my new manifold and also lowering springs.

Looks quite good I think :) He's planning to add more detail to the middle of it though.

Still looking at loads of vids getting excited for buying a blob or hawk STI next month if I find the right one. Stumbled across this vid. I certainly don't condone such driving in wet conditions and at such dangerous pace, but what's done is done...

(Still like Scoobydoo69's vids better though ;) )

Folk keep recommending the blob eye as it's more fun to drive, how exactly does it feel in comparison to the hawk? I've only ever driven a Hawk STI without PPP and an RB320 so far. Does the blob give you more of an immediate thrust than the hawk or it less obvious than that?

v11o has a lot of decent videos actually. He messes around a lot more and goes out of his way to take his camera places.

To be honest I don't think he was driving all that hard in the wet. I'm odd that I enjoy driving the car hard more in the wet. :)

I watched most of his last night, he's obviously comfortable with the car as you are with yours.

I guess it's going to take a while for me to learn the limits on mine, I've only ever had FWD hot hatches! The RB320 was a revelation to me on the test drive courtesy of the Subaru garage. What I thought was insane torque steer (either though I know better couldn't possibly be), the garage chap proceeded to tell me how I should be driving a Scoob, quite enlightening actually. Apparently I was gripping the wheel too much and forcing the steering rather than relaxing my arms and letting the AWD do it's thang. Turns out he was a semi-pro rally driver himself :D

Never really put up a decent picture of my engine bay:

Forgot to answer you G4ORCE. The 2.0 is just more exciting, more willing to rev and feels more old school with it's turbo power delivery.

Also.. got a tunnel run with 60+ other Scoobys on Saturday. :D

Did the same last year, but never put the videos public for obvious reasons, but here's one :)

Good vid, albeit not sure at the dude doing pretty much triple digit mph on public roads in the wet, but meh...

How was the RB320? If I went down the Impreza route I think it would be a WR1, GB270 or a RB320; WR1 and RB320 'may' become classics (not quite like a 22B)... having said that the P1 doesn't seem to demand a huge premium.

WR1 will not hold it's value. You can get them very cheap already.

They are still around the 10k mark for a decent one, which for a 8 year old Impreza isn't bad going.

You can't argue with their performance either, I can't see them ever going down to RB5 money etc, especially as only 500 (?) were ever made (sold in the UK?) and probably half of them have been written-off or blown-up.
