Who here owns a Subaru?

I've been umming and ahhing about what to do car wise at the moment, seen a Hawkeye Spec D I like the look of so fired off a speculative email to see what sort of part ex they'd do on the S2000. If they come back with a reasonable number I may be tempted.

One of mine from a meet on Sunday:

I'm thinking about the possibility of buying another of these, i would want a blob eye STI with a map. It also needs to be the revised model like my old one. What kind of money would i be looking at these days, it will just be a toy to play about with on the odd weekend / track day. I need something with a bit of "umphh" in my life.

Looks like majority of late blob STIs start at between 8 and 9k, whether that's what they are going for is another matter but seems to be the price range that they start in.

Still a bit too much for me at the moment, annoyingly the Spec D I wanted to look at has sold but I'm not surprised as it was a good price.

Looking good ScoobyDoo, well nice!

Thats right, many people will say thats expensive (existing owners/Glass guide) but they are in demand so the market is pushing up the price. A 2004 or previous can sell for such a big difference (circa £6K).

I dont mind paying £9K or a little more - the hard part is finding a good one with low/average miles. Hence my 6 month wait :(

Even on the Scoobynet forums there's two wanted posts at page 1, one is mine and someone else's who I deem competition :p

Ill have a dig tonight and see if i can find something to confirm what i sold it for ...

Does seem a little over priced

I keep meaning to post in this topic as I did recently buy a 2005 Forester 2.5 XT. Only issue I have with the car is a P0021 code that comes up every 200 miles, which I then clear and it'll come back 200 miles later. I was thinking of replacing the cam sensor, but wondered if you guys know of anything else it could be?

EDIT: Obviously it could be an issue with the VVT etc. but the fact it always seems to be about 200 miles before it reappears is making me think it's the sensor on the way out.

I do know of a 400BHP monster coming up at £8.5K - but its got 75K miles which I know is about average for a car this age but was trying to stick to 50-60K max.

What do you guys think, keep clear? What is the lifespan of a blob engine if properly serviced? 110k?

The way I'm feeling right now I'd give him £9.5K but it too damn far for me, opposite end of the country almost.

Black 2005 STI - is it too much to ask for :(

Its was a superb car when i owned it, it has only done a few K since then. Distance never really puts me off if its for the right car :)

Car also has Tein springs

Just spotted this on SN - pretty much perfect imo, would love something like that. would you pay 25k for it though?

Expensive but its a staggering build, attention to detail on that thing is quite something and its got a host of custom components or little 'one off' bits that make it special.

I think its interior is a bit of a half way house, about the only thing I don't like much....no cage so not really set up to be an all out track car, but it has no rear seats, harnesses and front seats that are hardly suitable for daily use as a road car.

Whats the pickup/lag like with the 43?

It makes more power... everywhere! Surprisingly!

And that is despite me telling my mapper to hold back the boost low down so I can have a bigger rush up top. It would have easily hit 1.55bar at a bit about 3200rpm. Instead It hits 1.3ish bar boost at 3000rpm then he lets it come back on boost properly about 4250rpm.

The VF35 was pretty much on full boost straight away, but despite that, it made less torque and less power at the same revs.

Drives just how I want it, old school turbo rush sensation of coming on boost late and hard whilst actually maintaining decent low down power and torque.

Not going to complain for a turbo that I bought as an emergency for £200!
