Who owns a Golf GTD / GTI / R?

Hi Guys,

Although i've always dismissed leasing deal in the past, due to the fact that you don't own anything at the end, i've come around to the idea of leasing a Golf R recently as it looks like there are some good deals out there on these.

I was just wondering if you guys could recommend any particular deals/companies to look at?

I do about 13k a year mileage. Looking at the some leases online it looks like there is a large difference between monthly cost on allowed mileage of 10k and 15k. It looks like it might be better to go with a 10k deal and then pay 7p/mile (estimate) for the extra 3k each year. Depends on the differece in cost of course.

I currently drive a manual Leon FR but would be interested in trying out the DSG on the Golf R. Could stick with manual if there is a significant difference in cost though.

Probably 2 year term.

Are there any extras that you view as essential?

Let me know what you think.

I think the ship for decent lease deals for the Golf R / R Estate has been gone and never to come back again.

There is about £1400 ish difference between the Manual R and DSG R , which works out about £39 per month approx. extra over 36 months lease

I think the R is pretty well specced anyways.

Also my mate is trying to get one and it seems that lead times are anyone's guess. Local VW dealer told me 8 months.

Well i got mine after 4 months exactly from the point of ordering , originally got quoted 3 months , but there was a delay due to supply issues with the seats and other components.

If you order one now , i will be at least next year before you get it ;)

I ordered one on the 19th of August.

Delivery has slipped a number of times already, and is currently the first week in January.

I feel your pain , mine i was delayed by a month , but once you get it , it will be worth it.

Ill just leave this right here , sorry if it is a bit dirty, didnt have enough time yesterday to clean the wheels.

The deal is real, its common for that to happen when you change mileage on promotions. Take it at 5K mileage and pay the excess.

So around £200 per month all in?? Surely that can't be right? My four year PCP on my GTD is about £330 :(

Not knowing the specifics of your deal it's hard to say if it's true or not - but often the lease deals are cheaper/better value than the PCP deals - it's just a mental barrier to get over the fact that you don't own, and never will own, the car. It's not suitable for everyone though.

I do like the optional wheels :)
It's the time of year when you can really appreciate/use the all wheel drive system on the car.

I wouldnt have got the R if it only had the standard 18" Cadiz only (i know you can go aftermarket etc etc ), i think the 19" Pretoria really sets the car off in my opinion.
