Who owns a Golf GTD / GTI / R?

You could be onto a winner here...

It does make it look more like a 'normal' Golf, but that's always been half the point in the faster variants really, wolf in sheep's clothing and all that, only the mk2 Rallye and then the mk4 R32 were different...after the mk4 they all looked pretty much the same really to me (performance vs standard).

I've got a Mk5 GTI, love the car but it has quite a few miles on it now (112k)

Being toying with updating to a later model for quite some time but I worry that it might not seem much of an upgrade

Anyone else moved from a mk5 to a mk6/7?

112k is nothing!

Had a GTD as a company car since August. Its done just over 12K miles. Night Blue, Winter Pack, keyless entry and Discover Nav Pro. Only annoying thing so far is the rate it goes through screen wash probably due to having the headlight washers as well - had to refill 3 times this winter.

I have this problem too, so I have bought 25L concentrate for £13 which gets diluted at 10/1 so I have well quite a lot to see me through for £13!

I am quite tempted to unplug the headlight washer motor though...

Mk5 R32:

has a few tasteful (and one quite loud) additions

I have had it about 14 months now and its pretty much all the car I will ever need

I would not hesitate to order another..in fact I probably will, fancy carbon grey next time..might got for the 19's as well

Went from a MK5 to MK6, unsure if you'll notice much of difference in power delivery but you'd certainly notice the interior upgrades.

I reckon that whether its a wise move or not would largely depend on spec, the MK5 had nothing bar the DSG box, the MK6 has leather, heated seats, parking sensors (with rear camera), 18's, bluetooth etc so if you do choose the make the move, ensure that that the spec boxes are ticked.

I'm another member of the Golf MK7 gang. Absolutely love my GTD, running a DTUK box as the only mod apart from the upgraded 19" alloys.

Gave it a good clean, polish and wax this morning too.

Think it could just do with being lowered slightly...

What people paying for their insurance?

Best quote I'm getting my Mk7 GTD for 25yo, 5,000 miles, 4 years NCB, driving for 7 years, one at fault claim, £200 total excess is £485 fully comp. Although when I add my retired dad on it rises to £554...
