Who owns a Golf GTD / GTI / R?

Halfords if you have a trade card or I have a Duracell one on the GTI from Battery Charged and it is a fraction of the price (£125) than from a dealer. Plus I upgrades from enhanced lead acid to AGM. Remember you will need to code the new battery with VCDS/OBDEleven or similar.
Charged. Car is showing 80% charge in battery. Will start her up later and let her run for a few hours to make sure all is well.

As per the posts above, they look like Cadiz wheels that someone decided to refurb in silver (and looks to have lost the diamond cut face too) - these wouldn't have been available on a GTI from factory though I don't think, only the R, so whether they're genuine VW rims that have been bought second hand or a set of £400 replicas is hard to judge.

Just to add, not sure what market Guernsey has but the rear light clusters are the US spec ones as the EU have full LED ones. It also doesn't have adaptive cruise either as the radar unit is missing.

Never seen a GTI/GTD without the LED lights or Radar in the UK as far as I was told it is standard, I wonder if it has had a shunt or is a grey import?

As for the gearbox I would certainly go DSG, the manual would be a deal breaker as they are worlds apart. Plus the clutches are a weak point on the manual. If you find a DSG make sure it has had the proper services done.

Had confirmation it's a grey import, built for the Australian market but brought to the island by a local garage - apparently 10 were brought over this way. It meas the SatNav doesn't work either, but I've asked (and am hoping) that a Euro mapped SD card fixes that as I do intend to go road tripping. Awaiting confirmation on whether the wheels are genuine Borbet.

I think it puts me in a good position to haggle at least!

I know the location of the car likely plays a big part, but just seems like more hassle being the grey import for not much gain, not like it's an amazing price is it?

Does it affect insurance premiums? I seem to recall importing being a question on some policies.

I'd rather have a UK spec one. As far as I know ACC is standard on pretty much all mk7 golfs bar maybe the S variant. ACC is a great option to have as well, I used it all an awful lot of the time when I had my golf.

ACC isn't really much of a benefit on island for my normal day to day driving - but should I take it away then it becomes an obvious benefit. The bigger benefit/issue of having radar fitted however is that the radar unit is needed for the low speed collision avoidance - which is a feature that lowers the insurance group of the vehicle. SatNav they seem to believe can't be fixed by sticking a European SD card in it either. The rear light cluster is as pointed out before not a full LED unit. The wheels however are genuine R wheels by Borbet.

Unless I can get this knocked down to £15.5k I think I'll pass, as I believe my best option is waiting for a UK spec DSG to come up - shame!

I am new here.
I have just ran into a DSG issue 6 speed wet clutch on my Jetta model GH-1KAXX. First the Park gear was no longer holding the vehicle still, on a slight decend it would roll forward , basically without foot brake it would just go on and on, then the reverse gear started slipping out and PRNDS lights flashing until recently i started losing forward drive and PRNDS flashing-having to restart the car in order to move again. I suspected the Mechatronics but in Zimbabwe we do not really have garages who specialize in the software side.
I am however bringing in a 2nd hand gearbox which was running on the same car as mine, it is coming complete with its mechatronics and looking to fit it on my car next week.
Are there any areas i need to be carefull with and will i need to recode the mechatronics on the 2nd hand gearbox or since it is coming off the same vehicle model as mine its just as simple as fitting it on mine, filling up the oil, check fault codes, do a quick adaptive drive, let it rest a night then i can use the car fully the following day?

Not a Golf, but just picked up the wife’s new T-Roc R. Must getting old as I rather like it.

Yes it’s expensive and the interior is a bit naff (not all bad, just some cheapo bits), but it’s what she/we wanted and life’s too short to not do things you want :)
