Who owns a Golf GTD / GTI / R?

I imagine most Golf Rs are also tunned as well, so those will be about 375bhp :)

The GTI is a lovely car, very similar performance to my 2.0 TSFI Audi A4 at 252ps out of the factor. I’m tempted by a 340ps stage 1 myself.

Do it!!!

An R would still smoke mines but I'm just happy to have the extra power but especially the torque. I've seen a 30 mile tank range increase when I leave it in Eco mode and do my usual commute. 365 miles now pushing 400 miles each full tank. Well pleased.

What does a full tank cost in these?

Where did you get the remap done, if you don't mind me asking?

It's 50 litres. Same as most cars that size.
I get around 470 in mine and that's 90% A and B roads.
Can get around 580-600 if it's all motorway.

I'm not sure it is, mines was a 2014 plate and I had to keep squeezing the handle once the pump cut off to get 57 quids worth in. Never got anymore than 440 miles to a tank. Pump would show around 43/44L max.

A garage local to me but it's an Evolution Chips remap, company is based in Blackpool. I believe they are the guys that started fiddling with Cossies back in the day. They will have distributors all over the UK.

I am getting well over 400 miles range in my GTI, seen 47mpg on a run to Scotland.

How? I'm not overly heavy footed but you must be driving extremely cautious all the time?

Think it is because I ride a motorbike so always looking way ahead down the road and act accordingly. The 47mpg was before the 50mph limits because of the smart(dumb)motorway roadworks so would be old school 70mph..

So I left the ignition on all day today.. Pleb.

Taken the battery out but my charger tells me connection break. Will try a different charger tomorrow.

Anyone replaced the battery on theirs, if so which one did you go for? VW retailers are closed so no chance of getting a price for one from them.

Halfords if you have a trade card or I have a Duracell one on the GTI from Battery Charged and it is a fraction of the price (£125) than from a dealer. Plus I upgrades from enhanced lead acid to AGM. Remember you will need to code the new battery with VCDS/OBDEleven or similar.

Not quite a Golf (Leon MK3), but the same basic thing and related question; the car is new so has both the DSG box and electronic parking brake. Am I okay to leave the car just in 'Park' with the parking brake left off while its parked up at home? Park it on a flat and level driveway so I imagine it should be fine as there's no forces on it? Noticing the handbrake being very sticky to release when driving it as its been parked for a week or so.

Absolutely! One should always leave the handbrake off if cars are being parked up for any considerable amount of time.

I rarely use the handbrake anyway when parked on level ground.
