Who owns a Mondeo ST220 / ST TDCI?

Buy some paint from Ford and paint them, the cans they supply last a good round of jacking covers and then some, and useful for touch ups too!
how much we talking for paint? as the plain covers on ebay are between £15-20 each :eek:and considering i need 3 plus paint im not liking the sound of the price lol.
might just pull my 1 off and give it the more rugged no jacking point covers look:D so if anyone wants a black cover let me know.

No way i would pay £80+ forjacking covers for them to be robbed by some gypo ebay user 2 weeks down the line...

was thinking that. i had 2 when i got it and reckon 1 got stolen :(
would rather spend the money getting the alloys refurbed if i decide to keep it.
you keeping your st220 now Rybo? noticed youve had a few things done to it.
if i sell it will only be to get the FOCUS ST225 OR Mazda 3 MPS

I could never bring my self to sell it. As you know first hand, i have been crap trying to sell it and never gone through with letting anyone view it.

Just no other car out there for me that is so comfy/big/good looking/handling and rare that interests me enough to want to get rid. Did really want a S2000 or 350z but that was just a bad idea and not suitable for me.

totally agree i have only had mine nearly 5 months now and enjoy it every time i drive it. Had a lot of people comment on what a nice looking car it is also.
was only thinking of getting rid while the prices are still high. Noticed that one's with 100k+ miles on are hard to sell on and mine has 87k now so might sell after christmas.
Always wanted a ST Focus and with a re map should feel faster and more fun than the Mondeo. That's the only down side to the ST220 even though its quick its so comfy and big it does'nt feel like your going that fast unless you glance at the speedo :D

Get a VXR if you want quick. Still kind of miss my VXR, proper FWD weapon.

Just don't expect to make all the corners :p

dont they fall to bits though? ive seen on forums people complaining about spending thousands on Astra VXR's with stupid expensive parts+Turbo's always breaking. I hate the way they handle also i had a 1.6 Astra as a hire car was awful compared to the FOCUS.
Don't see why all the VXR fan boys bang on about how fast they are compared to other hot hatches as i am sure they hit 0-60 in about 6.2 secs compared to the Focus's 6.7. Surely the fact they handle like crap would make up that tiny gap.
The fastest hatch on paper is surely the Mazda MPS 6.1 secs to 60. Next time one comes for sale im gonna have a look see what there like to drive compared to the Focus.
after seeing the acceleration in this vid from 1.30 onwards it looks like a fun car to drive:p

Anyone after an ST220 in the Essex area? If so, there's one here. I've bought from these guys recently and they're a decent bunch. 3 month warranty which is with the dealer themselves and not some tin pot 3rd party warranty company.

Linky

We're have they got that price from It's overpriced by 1k
I only paid 3.5k for my mint 2004 with 83k and 6 months tax on 4 months ago. I'm thinking of selling it after Crimbo for 3k .

I think I found out the cause of constant slow loss of pressure in a couple of my tyres. Had the wheels refurbed and touch wood its solved it. Wheels look amazing now too! Like new.

Yeh I've heard of that happening with the 220 Alloys losing tyre pressure when there corroding.
How long does it take and cost for the refurb? Mine had already been done but I've badly scuffed 2 of them  so need doing again

if you still have the original metal valves its worth getting them changed to plastic on your next tyre change if you notice air loss. Both my rears kept loosing air and it was the valves had corroded and lifted slightly. Had plastic ones put in like the fronts already had and have not had any air loss since.

I keep looking at my alloys thinking about a refurb. No way I would spend £90 a alloy to get them do properly though...

My Fiesta ST alloys cost £140 I think for all 4. So I would pay this to get the 220 alloys done just silver.

VXR refurb cost me £25 and about 8hours of my time, best job a have ever seen asweall :)... 220 alloys would be impossible to do without a proper sand blast though or I would have done them myself again.

Dropped in it in the morning and picked it up the next morning. Cost £330 for all of them; had the full acid dip jobby done on them.

Mine were heading towards needing a refurb too. They'd been done in the past but presumably it wasn't the most high quality of jobs.

Fixed the problem by selling the car (Y)

My 3 1/2yr old mk4 has just ticked over 200k

Everything is still original suspension turbo clutch flywheel etc etc

I feel a world of pain and wallet raping is about to descend on me

More importantly though how does everyone rate the bilstein b6s and what springs would be best to pair up with the billies?

The prices I've seen some people pay on here for a "decent refurb" has been around 50% of the cost of brand new alloys.

I'm half tempted to buy new and sell off the old ones.
