Who owns a Mondeo ST220 / ST TDCI?

The prices I've seen some people pay on here for a "decent refurb" has been around 50% of the cost of brand new alloys.

I'm half tempted to buy new and sell off the old ones.

I looked into it a few months before I sold mine, and contacted some local places for quotes. Prices seemed to average around £350 to have all 4 wheels done - tyres removed, wheels stripped and re-painted, and that's in Surrey!

Last time I checked, a new 18" ST wheel was £150 ex vat, and slightly manky second hand sets seemed to sell for £2-300. so I'd say having them refurbished represents a decent saving :p

Edit: Just checked FordPartsUK who are usually a few pounds cheaper than the RRP - £187 per wheel, excluding VAT. I think that further embellishes my point.

FordPartsUK do a 4-pack which works out to £182.75 ex VAT per wheel but also includes centre caps which they sell separately for £51 ex VAT so if you knock that off it comes down to £170.25 per wheel. I would personally want to replace the centre caps on mine.

How much you reckon for my old set? I got 2 ok (slight marks) and 2 corroded.

I don't want to do that either lol. I make it £577 inc. VAT once you sell off your old set though.

I make £577 a larger sum of money than £350 though. But I could be wrong, my mental arithmetic is a bit flakey. Much like a new set of wheels probably will be in a year's time. ;)

I didn't say it was cheaper; I actually said twice the cost initially, but you do end up with a new set of alloys rather than a 10 year old set :)

It's a strange thing with ST alloys. My car's history showed one of the wheels were replaced after a year (from new) due to flaking but I think one of mine has hardly no flaking after 10 years. Maybe some damage is required before it does it?

Anyway, I'm gonna look around to see if I can find someone who'll do a decent-ish refurb for £200.

I remember seeing a new Focus RS set of alloys discounted to £500 a while back but unfortunately it hasn't happened with the ST220 ones.

Looks really good ;)
Not normally a fan of silver but it looks amazing on the ST220. Is that the machine silver?
We're did u take the pics? Very scenic

Thanks. :)

I think it's the machine silver...only other vaguely similar colour I know of for the St is the kind of dark grey, which is much darker than mine. whatever colour Howard's was. :p

I took the pics alongside the river in the centre of Inverness.

Gonna get my subframe bushes and rear drop links done in the new year.

Is there anything else i should do while im at it. My ride quality is shocking atm.

Mine was Machine Silver, so is yours. It's ever so slightly darker than regular silver. They were also available in Stardust Silver which is just regular silver :p

Magnum Grey is the dark one, and probably my favourite facelift colour. If only they hadn't dropped Infra Red with the facelift :(

Went for a drive around the local single track roads. Little bit of snow around but not too bad. I did however have to stop where I took this first picture because of a branch covering the road. It was a tiny hill but it took me 3 tries to get going again - had to roll back several car lengths and get a run up! :p Just me or is the ST **** in the snow?
