Who owns a Mondeo ST220 / ST TDCI?

Very nice, really shows how well the mk3 ST220 has aged, it still looks very smart.

Very loathed to give mine up but I'm wondering if finding a comfortable auto saloon which is nice to drive with a pleasing V6 is too much to ask. The later Mondeo Powershift (ala Howard's) looks really interesting but I'm worried I'd miss the V6 soundtrack and fun ride too much :(

The trade prices of the ST220 are ridiculous at the moment. Most 2004's with 80k+ miles are going for 4k  but the private sales seem to be really cheap. I think the launch of the new Mondeo will knock the ST prices down abit with making it an even older model as the mk4 prices are really cheap now.
I'm gonna put mine up for 3k in a month or so when I start the hunt for a Focus ST.

hi guys, just giving mine a service, does anyone know how to get the fuel filter off
(st220).

just looked at it atm and thought "meh ill come back to it". that was 2 weeks ago, so this is me coming back to it.

whats the best way to get the clips off?

Did mine a couple months ago, very easy dont need any tools to disconnect fuel lines unlike other ones i have done in past.

The fuel lines are connected via a plastic clip, youll see one on each side they are both the same. The black plastic has a white 'U' shape clip inside it, push this upwards so it disconnects away from the black plastic (it wont fully come out), then pull the fuel line out. To reconnect you just push fuel line in and press the U shape back into its slot. Kind of hard to explain but youll see what i mean tis very easy.

As for the fuel filter bracket, iirc there was 3 screws to undo and then the entire metal housing comes out you can then get the fuel filter out by undoing a small screw (dont think you can get to that without removing the entire bracket)

Cheers mate, ill jack it up tomorrow and sort it out. Did you pull the fuel pump fuse or just get on with it?

i always pull the fuel pump fuse out then attempt to start car to help get rid of any preasure, but many people dont bother...for me its an extra 2 mins work for a bit of added safety so why not :) Plus i hate fuel in my eye! stings like ****

So my car's just had its MOT done. It needed new rear coil springs; one was broken (fail) and one corroded (advisory). If anyone else needs theirs replacing be warned that there are a couple of non-OEM ones on the database which state they are compatible with the ST220 but are longer (presumably for standard Mondeo). I went OEM in the end.

I'm curious about what results you guys are getting on the MOT brake efficiency test. Here are my results:
  • Service Brake Front: 42% (Imbalance 6%)
  • Service Brake Rear: 19% (Imbalance 10%)
  • Service Brake Total: 61% efficiency
  • Parking Brake: 18% efficiency (Imbalance 1%)

It's Always the way just as I was thinking of selling my ST220 on to get a hot hatch over the next few months, I had to pay out for a replacement windscreen yesterday and now my handbrake has gone all loose/floppy :(
It almost feels like the wheels are dragging slightly am I right in thinking it's the brake callipers? How much are they for the ST?
Really Need my car for tommorow are they ok to drive in this state?

After a very happy 1.5 years with my ST220, it's going up for sale. It's a great all-rounder but now doing over 15,000 miles per year I'm looking for something a little bit more frugal. I really hope that one day Ford come up with another performance saloon.

More than likely the cable has rusted tight and needs replacing rather than calipers.

When the hand brake is all the way up it still holds in place on the flat but I can move it up and down without the button as its really loose.
Is it ok to drive like this? Even if it's the callipers aswell?

Had my car up on jacks today just to swap wheels front and back, and noticed that the back right backbox on the exhaust has shed quite a lot of cladding, just peeling away from the internal metal casing. What's the criteria for having to replace these, and how much would I be looking at?
