Who owns a Mondeo ST220 / ST TDCI?

Bulletproof lumps

Got a mapped 2l 140 (same as the 163) rag the guts out it 7 days a week and it's nudging 1/4 million miles and never had anything spent on it yet

Would love a 2.2tdci 200 but damn they are pricey especially when you start comparing to mk5s

Where's the catch with this one ?

Low mileage, looks in good nick (not my ideal colour but heyhoo), 2 previous owners, seemingly quite detailed listing. The price is dirt cheap, which worries me as I think there's an angle to it :p

Bit of a treck to view it, but it looks like a good one .......

Edit - "Worked on the ST220 program" seems a bit um .... sure ...

Thats got to be CAT D that do a txt hpi check on it for a couple of quid. I would think it was cheap at 3.2k never mind 2.2k
There is always a catch nobody sells there car for 1k less than its worth. He would have got more than that trade in.

Cheapy HPI text reports not written off or stolen, only a reg plate change. Surely got to be a reason for it being that cheap ......

i would ring and ask what the other plate was that he had on the car as maybe it would only show if anything previously happened on that plate and not the current one.
im still going for CAT D as thats the sort of price a previously stolen or written off one goes for :D

The guy got back to me, told me what custom plate the old owner had, and that he himself had a custom plate too. Reason for price "is so the wife is happy" :p

Hmmmm.

Never noticed that with the bumper, chunk of it missing ?

That guy sounds pu££y whipped :D he needs to grow a pair! Sounds like he bought a Kuga because his wife probably wanted a 4x4 and he's selling the ST220 for next to nothing.
Notice before I think the Mot runs out in May doesn't it? Would expect 12 months on it otherwise he's getting rid for a reason.

The low mileage ones really command a premium. Gonna shift mine in a few months I think, but with 110k on it it's only going to fetch around £2k. That said, it only cost me about £4k 4 years ago so I can't complain!

What u gonna replace it with?
Come the start of July i would have had mine 12 months so gonna Service and MOT it and hopefully get a Focus ST225 or a mk4 2.5T Mondeo. I'm having a hard time deciding is it worth shelling out for a replacement or just keeping it as its a great car

Leaning towards following Howard into a Titanium X Sport if I'm honest. Had been planning on moving to a BMW but I think I'll wait a couple of years until there are a few more 2 series approved used knocking around.

OK ok ok ...... im probably annoying people by now, but another one has popped up that ticks every single box on my list ......

The plan is to go check it out tomorrow, I have asked if the owner will hold on until I have had a look (its an hour and half drive for me, don't want it to be a wasted trip), but everything seems OK, at least from whats been said in the description and also photo's.

Can you guys spot anything I have missed (you all seem to have a keen eye), and also whats your thoughts on the mods that have been made (exhaust, springs) ?

The springs would usually put me off, purely because they're an unnecessary modification that will make it even more annoying to drive, but on the face of it that one does look like a nice, cared-for example so if it was a choice between a well looked-after lightly modified example like that or a shabbier standard one then I'd take that one. There can't be many left that are cosmetically as good as that one {appears to be}.

Go check it out. If you buy it the first things to do are remove that silly ST badge from the grille, those random tyre valve caps, and the one remaining piece of random silver trim that's been stuck to the foglight surround ;)

That's the first thing I plan to do :) I would also probably, at some point, put stock springs back in, but the exhaust seems to be something everyone puts on these things so not too fussed on it ;)

I did a quick text check on the car, everything seems good, appears he is the 4th owner of the car, and has had a reg change at some point (seemingly every car with some grunt attracts private reg plates lol).

I did just notice some paint work scrapes near to the fuel cap, the only visible ones that I can see from the photos.

Edit - On second thoughts, they might just be the reflection from peoples windows :p And is that a green ST badge on the back of the car ? And another ST parked behind it

the green st badge does look strange. the red version is much more discrete. tbh it doesn't look bad on the lowering springs, it doesn't look like it slammed, although i don't know how they will effect the ride. the seat belt thing in the drivers seat is interesting...........

Go and look at it looks a good example and its only 3k. Hardly going to break the bank. Leather looks good considering most with black leather look a mess by now. Just check for oil leaks after driving and i would want to know why he has another ST220 and is selling that.
As for the badge on the back the ST part in red fades to pink so he's probably put a gel overlay from Dmb graphics over it which can be peeled off. I have one with all black lettering looks well better

Guess I will have to take a look :) Seller hasn't got back to me whether or not he will hold on to it until I've looked at it, also its buy it now on eBay rather than classified add, and the watchers count is building. Need to ring the guy tomorrow morning methinks and see if its still going.
