Who owns a Mondeo ST220 / ST TDCI?

Yeh that's what I normally do but with dealerships charging extortionate prices far more than private sellers i was starting to think i might get a half decent trade in. Private 2004's seem to go from 2.8-3.5k but trade are charging 3.2-4k. Would the lack of MOT or fresh service alter the trade in price?
I probably will just get it serviced and then throw 12 months MOT on to try selling private as u say.
Just can't be bothered with chav's turning up for a blast in it and no intention of buying,

Had a play out with a driving weekend,

Had a trip to the yorkshire moors and gave the car a good welly in some twisty turny roads.

Its days out like that when the st220 really comes into play.

The grip, the lack of bodyroll and the pull of the v6 really makes it outstanding!

Not strictly an ST question, but are there many differences between the Mk4 and Mk4 facelift (around 2011/2012?)? I can see the interior changes slightly (black trim for centre console etc) but is much else changed? EDIT: For example, this one seems to have a slightly different climate control panel, and of course has the higher power 240PS engine.

So tempted to upgrade my Fez (1.25, miserable 74PS) to a Mondeo Titanium X EcoBoost PowerShift but I'm wondering if it's worth holding out for the facelift model or not.

If you find a facelift with nav, it's a bit more modern. Externally, the bumpers and grille are different and the facelift has DRLs, indicators in the mirrors, and LED brake lights. Internally it's basically what you've already mentioned and a slightly different instrument cluster. Yes, the 2.0 Ecoboost engine gets an extra 40bhp with the facelift but you can remap the prefacelift to that level anyway. There isn't a great deal of difference otherwise. I'd probably rather have a fully loaded prefacelift over a lesser-spec facelift.

Had my 2004 ST220 serviced and Mot'd it passed with not a single advisory! :D
The mechanic said I would be crazy to get rid of it as its in such good condition for a near 11yr old car. It's kinda threw me off what to do now as I was going to put it for sale this week to get the Focus 225.

Other than the fact you get a turbocharged engine which has more tunability, that wouldn't really be an upgrade.
That's exactly why i want one :D with a remap and few mods the Focus would leave the ST220 for dead with the torque difference in gear. The only thing that puts me off is most are ST2's for sale with crap spec's and rubbish cloth seats that's not a patch on the mint ivory leather in my 220 :(
I have loved my ST220 over the 12 months i have owned it, its fantastic on the motorway with the power in 4th/5th but on b roads etc it bores me sometimes as its so refined and smooth which is sometimes its downfall.
I don't want an upgrade in terms of gadgets and quality like the new Mondeo or a 3 series etc i want something that's going to put a smile on my face and make me want to drive it.
I can see why lots of ST220 owners have trouble replacing it for it's all roundness though as most cars that size now sadly have boring snooze fest tractor engines.

There was a focus 225 on track with me, if it makes you feel any better he only pulled away in the straights, on the bends i was taking them a lot faster then he was.

This is the only st225 ive met on track so dont know if the driver didnt want to take the bends fast or i simply out drove him (not claiming to be the best track driver btw, im far from it) or could be a mixture.

Edit* this was in my st220 not my sx.

People who have read my posts will know that I've been toying around with changing mine on and off for nearly a year now, and I still haven't got off the pot. The thing is, with the current lineup of cars on the market, I can't see anything available now, or in the near future, that will follow in the ST220's footsteps in terms of a powerful yet refined non-turbo performance large hatchback. I'm always going to be able to pick up a mid-hatchback with a sporty feel and a turbo, but these cars seem to be a dying breed.

Totally agree most newer cars now of that size including the mk4 Mondeo are nearly all Turbo diesels or have a Turbo on a smaller petrol engine. It's just a really bland and boring line up. Every new engine coming out seems to have a turbo on it like the Tfsi range or the ecoboost Fords etc. I love the character of the Na engines and the way the ST220 takes off from 4k revs with the V6 noise. But with there being not many engines around like that now that's why I'm opting to go for the ST225 as everything remotely quick seems to have a turbo now anyway.

Drove 25 miles today to have a look at a focus and hoping to have a test drive to see if it's worth changing my ST220 for but didn't even get chance to test drive it as the salesman wanted to "negotiate" to see if we could agree a trade in with cash price first. Then proceeds to offer me 1.5k for a 2004 excellent condition ST220 that's just been serviced and past its Mot with 0 advisories last week!:(
Wouldn't budge an inch off his book price even when i told him on AT there's only 10 for sale within 100 miles of here that are going for at least 3.5k and are of the same age and mileage.
So for a Focus he wanted my car plus 4.5k cash

^ This. its better for everyone that way.

Yes I always sell cars privately but with this being an ST220 and living in Liverpool I'm bound to get idiots turning up with no intention of buying it. The car dealer even said to me be careful selling it private lol
Plus when I sell private I will have a week tops to sort another car out for work
Would pistonheads be better for selling this? I normally use gumtree but it can be full of weirdos at times.

thats quite funny. i just keep my first car as a spare, so i can get about when mine is in for service/mot or if i'm changing car :p. wherever you put it there is a chance of local chavs wanting to see it, pistonheads might be a bit better than though as at least they might be interested in buying the car.

Ging, did a random webuyanycar quote for mine a while back. 05 plate on 96k and think it was something like 1.6k....comedy value imo.

So I've been considering a jp exhaust for a while. Initially I was put off by the Milltek drone at motorway speeds. I've been doing some thinking though and I realised that very little of my driving is actually driving at constant speeds.... I just want something that brings out the best of the v6 and something that is a bit louder than stock. The ST engine is very quiet in normal driving and even when you boot it, it's not that much louder.

So now I have been considering the Milltek exhaust. What do you guys think? As far as I am aware there is very little price difference between them?

I appreciate the best thing to do would be to go listen to the exhausts in person but that's difficult to do where I live! Hardly anyone around here has one and as far as I am aware there are no owners clubs.

The JP is no louder when cruising but it's a fair bit louder overall when accelerating etc and makes some lovely cracks and burbles. Go for that IMHO, it just seems better engineered than the Miltek.
