Who owns a Mondeo ST220 / ST TDCI?

So some turd decided to crash into mine while I was parked in Starbucks, crumpled the back bumper up and over the wing.

Fortunatly with a bit of luck I managed to pull it all out and clip it back in, aside from a small bulge now it doesn't really notice. Highly irritating and I really wish there was CC footage of it (already asked and there isn't one).

Suppose I haven't done too badly, first time its happened in 15 years of driving!
 
My St220 was a great car, served me and my family well over the last year. Unfortunately it met it's end today when my mrs drove in to a "monster truck".

Turns out a 3x foreign lorry drivers were trying to pull out of a layby on a busy A road, one of the drivers had got out of his car and stood in the inside lane ushering people in to the outside lane so they could drive off in convoy. A couple of vans infront of her swerved and managed to avoid an accident, she couldn't react and ploughed in to the back of the "monster truck" (which I believe to be a pick up).

Not seen it myself and doubt I will see it again. Front end is a mess and the drivers door won't open which suggests the chassis is twisted. Air bags didn't go off (impact was around 40-50mph) and she was told the airbags had been disabled. They weren't when I last checked :confused: Fully expecting it to be a total loss. Really gutted in all honesty.

 
o dear, glad your wife is ok! Hope it gets sorted nice and easy. Can remember when my mrs rang me up whilst in shock telling me she has been in a big crash, telling me her arms and face are all cut up. I didn't know what to do with my self at the time, being 60mile away. Her Punto was completely missing its front end.

Shame about the ST220. Howard will be crying when he see's that.
 
Lucky escape there for the missus Adam - glad she's ok and commiserations about the car. Was gonna joke about the ST220 being even more rarer now but tbh I'd be really gutted if that happened to mine. The insurance payout wouldn't cover the "loss" to me.

We've had some really heavy downpours while you've been away Howard but I think rest of this week is meant to be ok. No substitute for a Thai holiday though :)
 
Going to pop the cover off my cabin lights at the weekend to run a permanent 12v feed to my dashcam (been meaning to do it for months). Anyone done similar in the past and have any tips or tricks? Should be straightforward enough, just going to splice in and then heatshrink everything to keep it tidy.
 
I'd do that, but it looks like a fair bit of panel removal to get a lead from there all the way up to the rear view mirror (where I have the cam mounted). Lights just seemed the most convenient thing given the minute current draw it has. Or am I missing a consideration?

It's annoying when I want to plug the satnav in at the moment since I have no way of powering it! lol.
 
The only source of permanent power I can think of up there is the rear view mirror, and that's probably fiddly. I just ran the cable behind the glovebox and up the A pillar and above the roof lining.

Now heres one that should apply :D

The ticking at idle problem, a few owners have noticed a pronounced ticking from the top of the 3lt duratec (not to be confused with the injectors, which do make a faint tick/tap noise). After a bit of reaserch from others more in the know than me a tsb was found relating to the 3lt in the Mavrick (same engine im told, bar the modifications to the 220 version) which seems to remedy this ticking noise.

So heres the tsb if anyone ever needs it

So finally got round to looking into it today. Rang Ford and no one had a clue what i was talking about, i gave up and they closed for the weekend. (No TSB as it is a Known American problem, not British)

Looked into it a bit more on the internet tonight. From what i have gathered, is that nothing has to be bought, its just a case of re-installing/re-torquing the camshaft bearing caps.

So tomorrow if i can be arsed, i am going to start stripping it and then ring my girlfriends brother-in-law (Noble specialist) to come round and finish the job off for me.

He doesn't know this yet, but it is easy to twist his arm when a few beers are on the cards :)

Just hope i am right as the rest of the stories i have been reading lead onto having to have a new engine :eek:. I am 99.9% sure this is not the case with my car though.

Thought you was well past that. Think mine is on 84k at the moment.

Gave my car a good clean today. She will be going up my side drive on some ramps for a bit now whilst i sort the engine tick out and service the engine and fit the new exhaust.

Buying the Honda really has come in handy for me.
