Who's in to electric RC cars?

I've heard the hyper 7 is quite good, not quite cut out for racing that much but good for bashing. I've got a Mugen truggy and Losing 8ight 2.0 kicking about. The Mugen is used for racing, its an awesome car

Do you do racing? I just use mine for bashing, normally at Thetford forest or the on road track at Snetterton.

Yep, i do :) I only started racing this year with the truggy after many years of bashing with electrics. I've had to learn a lot about nitro cars very quickly lol. Have you thought about doing racing?

Here's a couple of pics of some of my stuff inc the Mugen

I bought this earlier today off one of the guys at the club. It's a Mugen MBX6, basically the buggy version of my truggy. It's a quick car with the right driver, i've seen it end up in the A final at most of the meetings i've been at.

I'd like to have a go at racing but there is nowhere around my area that does it. There is an indoor racing club not far from me but not sure I fancy that. Much prefer the offroad buggy racing to indoor flat tracks.

I see from your car pictures you are obviously a big Tamiya fan! :)

The off-road stuff is definitely a lot more fun. I could never get the appeal of on-road, not enough jumps! :D Have a look on the forums at Maxbashing.com, there might be a track near you that you don't know about :)

And yes, i am a huge Tamiya fan! Last count was 15 of them, ranging from late 70's up to more recent stuff.

I used to have an electric one awhile back. Musta paid around £300 quid for it about 15 years ago.

I'd be looking at another electric, for down the beach maybe.
My last one broke (I hit a curb! fool!) and it snapped one of the forks going out to the wheels. I think thats what put me off them. Do they come with aluminium (or ones which are difficult to break) nowadays?

If so, I'd be in the market for one!

RPM plastic upgrades are great and i believe they still come with a lifetime garuntee.

alloy bits are bad because they dont flex and pass the impact onto other parts instead.

Ah well, my old car is up my attic somewhere. I can't remember the specs of it, it was pretty quick though.

Whats a decent one these days? I'd like a quick one! Any suggestions? Anyone selling 2nd hand quick ones cheap?

For what? Onroad? Offroad? Size? Petrol? Nitro? Electric?.....

Electric
Offroad/Onroad, dont mind. I reckon a beech would be good to drive it to be fair!
1/10 would be great.

Ta!

I just brought a second hand Tamiya TA-05 which I'm loving working on and is a excellant drifter/touring car.
If I was going Offroad and hard bashing or to a Skatepark My Slash 4x4 Ultimate on 3s lipos would be my first choice.

Personally I would recommend The Slash for your first car unless your going to be using the car mainly onroad.

Broke out the Savage SS this afternoon after 2 years of no use, epic epic fun driving round my parents woods, forgot how good it was.

So much so i ended up getting out the drift TC3 and dusted off the HPI RS4 too.

Going to bash ebay this weekend and buy a few upgrades :p

The Slash is more of a truck, which I've never been fond of I'm sorry. Any buggy style RCs I should be looking at?

ps. thanks for taking the time!

My suggestion would be the Traxxas Bandit VXL. It's ready to run, come with a brushless system and everything to get it running. It's tough and parts are cheap and easy to get hold of if it breaks.

Hey Guys,

Reading this thread has made me to decide to go and get an RC car. Having looked around I've shortlisted the following 3:
1) Traxxas Slash Ultimate
2) Traxxas Rustler VXL
3) Traxxas Stampede

So what one would you guys recommend. I dont intend to race it, probably just take it to the park on the weekends with the kids. So will mainly be used off road.

Thanks
Meds

slash sucks i had one and you can barey turn without them grip rolling because the centre of gravity is so high.

hpi firestorm are more fun

Personally, for what you want it for, I would go with an HPI firestorm. They are very popular, spares are easily available and they are tough and reliable.
