Why are Evri are so absolutely abysmal?

I bought a mobile phone on ebay (Sony Xperia, brand new, £660), the seller stupidly sent it through evri, not even "signed for". The box had been torn open and the phone removed, and the empty box repacked in a new postal bag by the time it arrived at my door. Ebay were pretty good and gave me my money back, and the seller was left out of pocket because he cheaped out on the postage.

I now actively avoid ebay sellers that use Evri, unless I'm buying very low value items.

Sounds like more of a seller being dumb thing than an Evri thing (no pun intended)

Just bought a new phone battery from eBay which I rarely use, says it's delivered through letter box, it isn't and there was no evri driver anywhere near the house at the time (I was sat in the living room that they have to walk past to get to the door). There's no proof of delivery either (photo etc) so I guess the dance of stupid starts about now.

I ordered some car parts and they came via Evri, both turned up on time, intact and the couriers did not ring the doorbell and rush off after a second.

It really comes down to where you live and the people making the deliveries.

I've had bad experiences with all courier companies whether it be personal or work related.

you've hit the nail on the head, and entirely missed the point as well - they out source the end delivery from regional hubs to independent delivery drivers, the deliver drivers then seem to have no real incentive to provide a decent delivery - if (and when) that then messes up your pretty much stuffed as a sender / receiver, support from Evri is terrible if you can actually get hold of them :(

With Evri/hermes the problem we've had have always been with the parts actually owned and operated by the company directly.
That is to say the depots are like Hotel California, the packages check in, but they don't check out ;)

If the packages actually make it to a delivery van they're fine, even back in the days when it seemed half their drivers were people doing it from the back of a corsa.

On a related (late delivery;)) note I'm currently finding RM a right pain, I suspect there is something up at the local delivery office or they've decided to to try and "cut costs" by delivering from a neighbouring office*, as I keep getting packages being delivered by the one from the next town over, often 2 or 3 days late and arriving at 4-7pm.

*Given it takes about 30-40 minutes each way to reach it i'm not sure how it would cut costs vs having an extra staffer or two at the local office (3 minutes away), we had two parcels from the neighbouring DO arrive 3 hours apart yesterday via different drivers/vans (the packages were identical right and sent at the same time from the same sender - we'd ordered two of the same item).

Because everyone likes closure.

I got an email from them this morning to the effect of "we've done a thorough investigation and our delivery personnel have confirmed the package was delivered at 18:03 as described. Unfortunately thi was delivered to the wrong address, please give us 48 hours to collect it and redeliver it yada yada yada"

I guess they like to start with a positive of "we got the delivery time correct.

Anyway I've got home and as if by magic it's been delivered. Don't believe for a second it was delivered to the wrong address, I suspect the driver only had one drop in the area yesterday but probably another today so just marked it delivered yesterday to hit quota.

At least it's arrived.

Had an appointment at lunchtime. Two parcels were scheduled to be delivered. RM and Evri.

RM rang me and neighbour’s doorbells. Neighbour took my parcel. Evri only rang mine, just 20 mins earlier. Even though I requested to leave with said neighbour!

It’s a bit like Putins Cronies telling him that Wagner have captured another City. Start with a positive. Then tell him it’s a Russian one!!

Anyone have a working email or phone number for this crowd?

The bot is just a circular POS and I have been requesting call backs since Wed last week without any result.

I know the courier has the item as they sent an image both times they tried to deliver to a locker. The problem being, once diverted to a locker, they don't let you change it back.

If I could speak to someone, to change it, it would be fixed in 30 seconds but, instead, they just put their fingers in their ears and go "lalala"

I've requested 5 times to change back to home address since Wednesday.

i find evri not that bad .. apc on the other hand what a joke ..

Just seen this, the two parcels I have expected this year for delivery by APC resulted in me having to make a sixty mile round trip on both occasions as they proved unable to either deliver it or arrange an alternative delivery time. Total nightmare, even getting to speak to someone was a challenge of time and patience.

Here EVRI have been exemplary, probably down to the same driver's work ethic.
