Why are Evri are so absolutely abysmal?

Evri are great here, friendly "mature" drivers, a lady and a gentleman, not had a problem. As for RM I would like to see them fold, greedy and overpaid, but on strike. I use them as little as possible.

As much as I dislike RM I would never want them to fold, more would like to see them join the 21st Century and even have direct competition.

The front line seems to be doing a decent job tbh - I don't really care if I don't get letters EVERY SINGLE DAY - in fact I think that is a pretty wasteful use of resources.

They now offer collect at door, which is working amazingly for Amazon returns.

The problem is it is owned by people who don't really care about operational metrics as it is a protected service. From a job prospect point of view, it just makes sense to extract as as much wealth as you can.

In that case they'll have to work harder and more efficiently, for less money, slim down the management and have them become less "woke", as well as curb the unions.
I really don't think front line is the problem. If you want "gig economy" delivery drivers then use Amazon's delivery network. RM wasn't playing in that space really.

If I have a customer who really needs a reliable delivery I just use DPD. Chances are it'll get there on time most of the year. Apart from the odd Recorded Delivery letter I send I can't think when I last posted a letter.

I did have a chap who REALLY REALLY needed something next day, so after a long conversation I explained the only 100 percent way was to send his wife in the car to pick it up. So he did. From Bristol.

They claimed to have posted an item of mine on Saturday which they didn't. Turns up Monday on the door step just sat there when they easily could have posted it through the letterbox.

Dpd also a joke at the moment with next day express being lost then turning up a week later.

Royal mail just constant delays as expected.

OH had a small package delivered by Evri on Sunday whilst we were out. They stuck it under the doormat. Someone came along later to post something through the letterbox and stood on it. Proper crushed the box, luckily it was only makeup in a solid bottle/case.

Our Evri driver is superb, the nicest fella you could ever meet he will even take extra items for collection I havent booked in. The one before him was a right nightmare. She was just like Catherine Tate "Am I Bovvered" drove a tatty old brown beat up car stunk of cigs. She used to climb into the back kneeling on all the parcels just to get yours tucked at the back. This is the problem. I dont think Evri have employed their own delivery staff for years. They are all these freelancer types working out of their own car. So they might get training but they will never be like a well trained delivery force as they are basically a mix bag of delivery drivers. Its a lottery to what you will get. Also heard its like this in the hubs.

Where we are I rank the delivery service best to worst.

DPD
EVRI
Royal Mail
UPS
Yodel
DHL

Had a delivery tracking updated with "Bigger than expected, will need a special courier" yesterday. It's a box of crisps...
Thought that was it and it would never be seen again, got an email this morning my usual courier Big Tony will be dropping it off in a bit. They obviously decided you actually can fit a crisp box in a car.

Had to send a very large parcel (plastic toys worth about £130) Every courier wanted £160-£170 to send it! Evri wanted £31!! Guess who I went with :p

Evri haven’t been too bad for me lately. They ‘lost’ two parcels of mine last year (booked in at the shop drop off and then on to the van but somehow vanished thereafter…).

The worst experiences I’ve had lately are with DX. As in, just slow, never turn up when they say for collection, etc etc.

It's now 4 weeks since we ordered a carpet cleaner and Evri said it was out for delivery again yesterday.

Parcel arrived with some ear plugs!! I've not ordered any ear plugs.

Who were the courier that texted/e-mailed you saying you are parcel no 42 out of 135 and could track the van from the depot to your address? Interesting to see which places the driver went before yours.

DPD,

For what its worth DPD for me are absolutely far and away the best of the bunch

well for more comedy updates on the hermes (wont use the new name as its still the same woeful service and company), yesterday at work we had a 2nd trailer turn up half full, one minor problem it should have gone to a amazon depot up scotland. all the paperwork checked out for us but not the contents, and the best thing is the driver told me it had been checked before he left by security lol.....

Evri have been great for me. Something is even arriving today that was bought on Monday.

I've had one late deliver in 100+ sends/receives

I'm switching to them after RM have failed to deliver 3 items I've posted last week.
