Why are you not vegan....

Yes maybe it should have been posted in SC where most of the adults appear to be.

There is already a thread in SC.

This started in SC but the title was more inflammatory and the OP wasn't in line with sensible discussion. So the moderating team moved it to GD as the thread started in bad faith.

Edit for reference the original topic was titled:

if you buy meat dairy you support animal abuse

Yes. I'm not sure you did though.
I dont mind meat eaters airing their views it is the childishness of a lot of the posts I object to. Most of my family eat meat and most of my friends. They dont act like fools about it.
Doesn't matter what you posted, the thread title is asking meat eaters "Why are you not vegan?" therefore the thread is full of meat eaters saying how crap vegan food is.
But it isnt crap. You they/are confusing yourself. Any thing with no animal products is vegan by default. Pasta, olive oil, garlic, tomatoes and mushrooms for instance is vegan by default. Vegetable soup.

You even got the worst non meat sausages to try lol.

I'm not sure if a good vegan diet is expensive, it is if you don't put effort in. Vegan subs are definitely expensive!

I do not think it will be quick. I think the tide will turn in my lifetime to a real movement against meat. But it won't be quick. And I don't think the technology is there yet.

My gf is vegan and she used to push me. And it really did put up wall. Now, of my own accord, I'm nearly meat free (dairy is another matter!).
I don't eat chicken products simply as I love my chickens.

But pushing wasn't the answer. What I do like is a nice cooked vegan meal, without a lecture. "how was that?"... "yummy".. "that was vegan". I'll even do vegan meals now. But to be fair they aren't cheap. As I like things like asparagus and avocados (which I know for some aren't vegan!).

That's much more productive than "don't eat meat you monster".
It’s certainly doesn’t have to be expensive but you do need some cooking skills.

I’ve challenged lots of people to post their meal plan so we can compare costs but no one has (I don’t believe I’m the only one that plans a weeks meals!).
If you eat bad, then bad vegan (processed, fake meat etc) food is more expensive than a bad meat including diet (processed, ready meals, etc).

Our weekly/fortnightly shop is definitely more expensive when I’m buying non vegan treats (cheese mainly!) for myself which I don’t do every time.

He’s a dinosaur, he’s unable to recycle, claims putting a coke can in the recycling bin is too complicated for him. He’s probably one of these people that thinks all vegetables are awful. I wouldn’t bother tbh!

I knew when I posted it I was talking rubbish :)
What I meant to say was that the meat substitutes are crap.

I agree with that. Most are but they are getting a lot better. I tried a jackfruit concoction pushed as a substitute for spare ribs in oyster/hoisin sauce as that is one of the biggest things I miss. It was horrible. I think the first mouth full I spat out then tried another and threw the rest in the bin.

Almost every pasta is produced using animal products - pasta very much isn't vegan by default, vegetarian maybe, vegan definitely not.
lol wut?

Pretty much every dried pasta, is vegan.

This is vegan.
