just checked my wholemeal Fusilli ,may contain egg ,pretty much a standard disclaimer ,i used to make Tesco ,Waitrose ect products (i was veggie then),we would do a cherry frangipani have a full protein chemical clean down then on to say apple crumble ,had to say on the latter may contain nuts
Isnt that just possible bits of Cornish people? (im joking)

You mean De Cecco ? The best and only pasta if you're serious about pasta
Yes, you're right. The Lidl version is probably 'De Coco' :D

It's just annoying, this thread could be good useful information but people like @Rroff want to peddle mistruths like "most off the shelf pastas aren't vegan" when I've shown him that's just false. It's odd. There are inaccuracies from both sides, and they should both be challenged. I just wish he'd be man enough to admit he's wrong.

It was titled something something non-vegans are abusers. Lol.

Exactly, it set out from the Original Title to attack and bait meat eaters, the tone set out was IMO, passive aggressive, other vegans have joined in with the same tone so people who eat meat reply with the same.

I mean what have I been called or implied? That I am not as well educated, that i am immoral, or at least they are morally superior than me, that I abuse animals, and more.

And OP and a few others are surprised at the opposing reply they got? And I haven't even sworn once. All I ask for from other people is consideration, that we are all different, you eat what you want, as other people can eat what they want. And everybody is different, just because you can flip a switch and turn vegan, doesn't mean we all can. Not everyone live the same lifestyle as you, not everyone can cook the same, not everyone earn the same, not everyone has the same taste in food. Can we not appreciate that we are all different?

p.s. I must admit it still gripes me a little that OP has eaten meat forever and been only a vegetarian for 8 months and Vegan a FRACTION of that and then started this thread in such a tone. I've been a vegan for 3 hours....and my next meal (breakfast) contains no meat or dairy either, does that make me a vegan? Does that give me the licence to start a thread like this in the same way?

i think this shows you don’t really understand veganism. Veganism isn’t a diet, it’s a lifestyle. Simply not eating meat doesn’t mean you’re vegan, it’s about removing all animal products from your life and minimising/eradicating the suffering of animals.
That’s why the argument about giving an animal a humane life but still killing it doesn’t really hold much water as the animal still suffers.

Most discussions go back to food though.

We are NOT ALL THE SAME, still applies.

And to just say "you don't really understand veganism", it's a tone that comes across as belittling. It's what i mean....i feel like i am being talked down upon.

I understand it, the CombatSqurriel has no leather products in his house, i remember that conversation, right after he told me he has 2 degrees.

Well, you asked if you could be vegan because of your eating habits. I don’t know if you were being flippant. I was trying to explain what it was a bit more for you in a simple way. If you ask stupid questions, you’ll be treated like your stupid I’m afraid.
But I wasn’t being condescending, just replying in a similar way to how the question was framed.
However, you aren’t stupid so not sure why you said such a stupid thing.
No Personal Attacks - Last warning!

Anyone mentioning how many degrees they have, are generally fools! It’s really not important to anyone!

Again, can we not appreciate we are not all the same? or WANT to be the same. Lifestyle, diet, earnings, background, medical needs, taste, desires etc?

A lot of these may or definitely clashes with veganism and we are okay with that, we accept that, I'll be judged at the gates of St Peter's if need be, but we are not all the same so PLEASE, enough of the condescending tone (and I will too) because we don't follow your "lifestyle" or religion, which is what it feels like at this point. I know what it involves and I personally don't think it's for me.

Lol. I’m not a vegan. Nor am I trying to convert anyone. I’m just trying to dispel some myths like @Rroff has posted.

Its a shame I have to keep repeating myself but I will....we dont need to cause the suffering and death of animals that's my point, its a choice because there is an alternative.

Factory farmed animals which is where most people get their meat from, the animals suffer terribly, just watch 10 minutes of the documentary I posted in the op.

Repeating is a side effect of not caring what the other person said.

You don't need to exclude meat from your diet and restrict yourself to eating vegetables.

I've not seen you say anything other than a terrible attempt to sell your susceptibility to the sales pitch of empathising with food to the point of rejecting it.

These videos have been a thing for decades, watched a chicken one in school and you know what, I still haven't got the time or means to farm the animals myself. It would be sheer hypocrisy to whinge about the reality of producing meat for food. So I don't.

If it's traumatised you out of whatever fantasy you thought meat came from then so be it. Knowing full well how meat gets to the table is something everyone should know.

Do you have anything else besides attempting to shock people into being vegans with the knowledge that meat comes from animals.

We don't like the alternative, ergo we stick with what we enjoy. The end.

I'm empathizing with animals, not food.

So out of our two choices, one causes very little harm, and the other causes the harm of many, more sentient beings, you chose the one that does the more harm?

This whole thread just hangs on people not spotting the glaring false dichotomy being presented - ie the only choices possible are a) eat zero meat ever or b) farm animals in brutal factory farms (cue over-dramaticised video).

When you consider a middle ground, let alone a gradient, almost all the vegan arguments evaporate.

Ie
- hens living entirely outdoors their entire lives
- to improve on nature, they have shelters to protect them from predators (anyone who's ever actually had chickens will know what the 'natural' world is like if they've ever had one escape in the night....)
- natural breeds, growing at healthy rates
- eggs collected when suits
- when the chicken dies (and it's euthanised if ill/injuries from natural world are too painful) it's eaten

Every step in this example is either exactly the same as the natural world or slightly safer/better/less painful - now this is how most people have chickens at home/small holdings

Now of course if you're ideological you can still claim the emotional argument that we should never eat meat, you can give it a full burial if you want and you know what'll happen, it'll get eaten.

I do think everyone is pretty close on a) improving animal welfare and plant nutrition, both of which are not good enough b) forcing supermarkets to change their ways (or stop using them for meat/veg as their quality is terrible across the board)

I'd also say that meat, fruit and veg production has lost its way entirely in the UK (and it's partly all of our faults) so nutrition, quality and ethical concerns have somehow been supplanted by cheapness, size and uniformity.

It's a bizarre situation that we have an obese society that is simultaneously starved of vital nutrients....

So creating the false dichotomy of all or nothing just loses the audience - esp when that audience is 98% of the country....

whilst most of us were adopting a eating meat responsibly attitude for years, we don't know how many years of animal abuse the OP has shown preceding his damascene conversion nine months ago - maybe I missed his biography? ... there is nothing like a reformed sinner/prodigal vegan.

This, as predicted is the same one line you have on repeat. I'm totally sure because I can copy the same reply from earlier.

The goal of raising animals is for food and useful animal products. Not sure what kind of meat you're looking at where the goal is to get in an abuse quota.

And yes, raising animals and then killing them is extremely necessary for the purposes of eating them and I'm pretty sure eating animals is something that is entirely correct for a human diet. You can live off vegetables alone. But you don't have to.
