Why do people act like this?

You did what everyone else should have done. If it happens again, repeat the same action. If I saw 6 obnoxious guys picking on 1 person, I'd step in. Being 6ft5 and around 16 stone helps though.
I'm over half a foot shorter and a couple of stones lighter but I would have stood up for OP and escorted him out of the cinema.
Like I said, ask the nearest stocky man for help. I'd be shocked if you were refused.

Just back from the cinema again.

Took a girl ive just met to see inception as she wanted to see it, get there and sit down and again 4-5 chavs come in, disruptive and foul mouthed.

I was really shocked to see what i did.

40minutes into the film, they all got up and started moving seats, and one of them made a phonecall so these 2 blokes sat a few rows behind them but infront of us, told them to stfu, they got abuse back.

These 2 blokes then proceeded to beat the living crap out of these chavvy scum, and i mean a beating.

At one point i felt sorry for these kids because it was getting out of hand, but after i thought, actually, they deserve it and just carried on watching like nothing had happened.

I think it's also worth noting that the majority of people are actually extremely pleasant, and it's only a minority that choose to act in a less than savoury manner. That's one of the reasons they stick out more, because it's much less often that you experience that kind of person, compared to when you experience nice individuals.

I used to think that people were just horrible disgusting creatures and over the last year I've taken huge steps to convince myself that people are generally nice, and now this happens, I'm really confused. I'm not totally unconvinced now, because afterwards people were saying "are you ok?"

I don't see what is worth noting there.
Of course its a scummy minority of disrespectful kids.
What is the point you are trying to make?

Or are you saying we should ignore it because most people aren't like that? As far as I'm concerned it only takes one ignorant person to ruin a film I have spent £30 on going to see with the missus.

I think he was trying to say that we shouldn't lose our faith in humanity, because of a few bad experiences :)

I won't be losing faith in humanity lol.
But the scummy underside of our society isn't acceptable to me when it's affecting me first hand.
These people can b*gger off back to their council maisonette grief holes to party all night on meths for all I care, just please behave like humans when we have the bad luck to meet each other.

If it were me i would have walked out, demanded a refund and took the wee man somewhere cooler because of the 'bad boys'

When i take my cousins out its best to avoid any hassle.

Good on you though for saying something, but i believe its irresponsible to retaliate so such nonsense for the sake of the kid.

Next time just get out.

Right, let me spell it out for you. The point I'm trying to make is that it's only a handful of people that behave in such a way as to make other people's lives unpleasant. Why is this worth noting? Because of this pathetic Daily Mail culture that we're moving closer and closer towards. A few people get made into a majority because the average Joe tends to let them overshadow the genuine majority (which consists of people that are seldom unpleasant).

You could do with speaking to people a little more politely, it'll work wonders.

This day and age you take a stand and you will likely get stabbed. Doesnt matter how big, tough, or how skilled a fighter you are, reality is these kids are even packing

I've always been under the impression that Harrow (on the hill) is supposed a nice, maybe even posh area. That's what my geography teacher said

The Harrow on the Hill part that is actually, on the Hill, is not bad. A few private schools up there. John Lion (wrong spelling I think) was a good school. Far too many small roads causing hell for traffic, especially the 258 bus. I have a few fond memories of growing up there (South Harrow) but in the 20 years I lived there, I watched it go to ****.

The shopping area of St George's and St Anne's is still classed as HotH, but is home to some of the most unpleasant and vulgar people. The number of times people have been mugged or stabbed at the bus station is shocking. I've seen people hurling abuse at each other 100 meters. 30 person free for all punch ups.

At the bus station, really? I use it all the time, especially when I'm with my brother. But that's only when I take him to the cinema/shops, and I assume most of the muggings and stabbings happen at night? In fact I heard that the bridge near northwick park station is really common for muggings. I use it all the time

That's really shocking to know, but useful. Thanks :)

If you read the Daily Mail maybe but people being like that just makes the issue worse.

Why on earth didnt you simply tell the staff and have them ejected?

1. Couldn't really leave - was at the wrong end of the row, lotta fatties on my row

2. Didn't want to leave my brother alone in there.

3. Didn't want to miss the film

Thinking back, I should have told them, and negotiated my way to tickets for another viewing.

Harrow on the Hill is nice, however St. Anns/Georges in bang in the middle of Harrow. Harrow on the Hill is where the Harrow School is and is a nice area. St Anns/Georges is where the idiots like to hang out.
