Will Smith hits Chris Rock on Oscars stage

Ask yourself why was Will Smith conveniently placed at the front of the stage with easy access to it, the camera's were angled to capture both their reactions perfectly. Will Smith was seen laughing along at the remark CR made that supposedly angered him so much?

Because he's a massive celbrity?

If it wasn't obvious that it wasn't a setup from the footage just look at the fact there have been multiple reports about the panic in the green room after as the head of the association, Will's publicist, etc.. immediately go off into a room for talks, LAPD is called over and speaks to Chris Rock's manager about possible charges etc...

I can understand maybe some "was that real" right after the event but now, after the facts have emerged, it's getting rather silly.

Not so. They typically sit around tables. Will Smith was on a chair next to the stage.

He is the best actor nominee who was odds on favourite to win. Who else do you think should be seated nearest to the stage? Someone who wasn’t nominated and not an actor? Perhaps one of those seat filler people. And did you notice he wasn’t sitting there alone? There were other people next to him?

What do you mean by Not so? Not nominated as best actor? Or they don’t normally seat the nominees at the front and usually at the back, perhaps they don’t let them in at all?

Do you also believe in flat earth? :p

I've fallen for it?

Suppose it's part of Newspeak. Why is there an almost endless revision of describing the fairly natural social stigmatisation if not for some nefarious means? Obviously it's not restricted to one niche of the spectrum as most people seem to loathe speaking plainly, goodness knows why.

He's sat practically front and centre, directly next to the stage, how many others do you count in this image with the same proximity? The whole stunt will have been carefully choreographed to allow for the correct camera angles and timing. Even the dramatic walk up to CR will have been planned into to, say WS randomly approached the stage from the side, clummsily stepped over to CR and smacked him, hardly has the same panache now does it.

Honestly you're more likely to be a flat earther if you believe the nonsense Hollywood put out.

He is seated front and centre because he is the BEST ACTOR NOMINEE.

How many times should I say it? That is the award just before Best Film (which is not a person but an entire crew). He is also one of the biggest movie star on the planet. Also odds on to win on the night.

Now that we have stated the facts above, where would you seat the Best Actor Nominee, big movie star, favourite to win, for the biggest individual award on the evening?

At the back? So that when he wins, he has to jump over about 20 people to so it looks funny on camera?

Nicole Kidman was also seated at the front too, guess what? she was nominated too. I can also spot Jessica Chastain, right at the front with direct access to the stage as well. Guess what she was nominated in? Best Sound Design? Best SFX? Best Short Film? Nooo, Best Actress.

Does it paint him in a bad light though? He's standing up for his wife's honour, old fashioned I know, but women will respect that.
look up white knighting ... runner up to misogny. (well none of the knights at the round table were black until netflix remade it)

Where would you seat him if you wanted him to portray some madeup anger culminating in him marching up the stage, the same place.

Sure. If that is the only "proof" that you have.

All the other legit reasoning don't count, they are totally and utterly ignored, but cherry pick the "proof" that fits your own conspiracy theory.

Also, don't forget your "round table" theory, that he is not seated next to one, was debunked by your own photo that you posted.

This is what happens when people start making things up, they get their facts wrong, because they never had any facts to begin with. The only proof that you have is that he is seated at the front, you have no tape recordings, no memos, nothing. But there are reports of people backstage discussing removing him from the building, now and investigation.

None of those matter, but he was seated at the front as the Best Actor Nominee…how dare they!

Not sure if it has been mentioned but Will's comment about keeping his wife name out of his mouth could also be a reference to a joke Chris made a few year back

Jada boycotting the oscars is like me boycotting Rhianna panties. I wasn't invited.

I wonder if Jada looked at Will and was saying " Are you going to let this happen a second time"

I liked your joke a lot. There have been some other choice ones in this thread.

he has done a nothing but crap since i can remember, however, don't go forgetting he's literally just won an oscar, so he must still be doing something right.

I didn't even look at the results. When people were talking about the Academy revoking his Oscar win I thought it was something from years ago.

Now that I've seen his acceptance speech which was after the punch it just makes Will Smith look even more pathetic. And the crowd too for getting behind him. Like he has his flaws - occasionally he hits people - but we love him.

Apparently he was a bit of a **** in fresh Prince to the other actors etc.

Perhaps he has always been a **** but worked hard to hide it.

Sorry I just don't buy the comedy is dead because of "offended". Lots of comedians are still offensive, I'm going to see Stewart Lee in April and I know he's going to be offensive. Some comedians might be complaining but maybe they just aren't as funny.

Swindon?

No you are unfortunately, if you still believe this is fake.

As others have said why would Will Smith multi millionaire hugely successful actor (who in like an hours time was in all likelihood about to have the pinnacle of his career winning the best actor Oscar) decide to agree to a publicity stunt for the Oscars that would not only utterly overshadow his own Oscar win but do something that will now overshadow his whole career?!?

Whenever the name Will Smith gets mentioned in public now someone will make a gag about the slapping incident!

Not to mention his career was built off the ‘Mr Happy’ Will Smith persona he’s cultivated which in some peoples eyes will now be forever sullied.

If he agreed to do this voluntarily like some believe then he’s a proper idiot!
