***Wimbledon 2017 Official Thread***

I placed no bets this years Wimbledon, i felt i got my years fill of good luck with the French open with Ostapenko.

Aha mate, I don't blame you! Best not to push it too hard :P

It's the only time I ever gamble. Put a fiver in my Betfair account every year and just make small bets when it feels appropriate. Got very lucky this year... managed to accrue about £25 in small bets then put half on a Cilic - Federer final, £10 on Cilic to win today and withdrew the rest so I at least break even.

Berdych breaks back, trouble is you feel like he is having to play as best he can to do it whereas you feel that Federer is on cruise at the moment and can move up through the gears when he wants. Trouble with playing against Fed is that its no good playing well for 30mins, you have to do it for 3 or 4 hours.

Haven't had a chance to watch any of Wimbledon so far. With Djokovic and Murray both out already too, my prediction that Rafa might catch Federer in the slam stakes isn't looking as likely as a few days ago.

See this is what I don't get. Its the idea that we should automatically assume that someone has said something nasty instead of giving them the benefit of the doubt. In the context of the interview it would be natural to assume he was talking about mens tennis. If this was the other way around and someone had forgotten to say "first female US player" no one would even have batted an eyelid.

I guess part of this is that I am sick of the constant bleating about gender equality when all we are moving towards currently is an unfair system that artificially rewards womens sports simply because they compete in the same tournament. The world doesn't and shouldn't work like that. Badminton doesn't pay as well as tennis because there is no money in the sport. Why does that logic not stand true when it comes to men and womens tennis.
I think it's a difficult area and for what it's worth, I think that's a good argument.

Remarkable really, the favourite in the womens final is 37 and the favourite in the mens final is 35. I remember when a tennis player was past it at 30.
