Wimbledon 2018

Do they need the roof for the lights? If so, will they start closing the roof the moment this match is over? If they wait and do it later there will be a delay as it takes something like 30m and can't be done during play, iirc?

They do need the roof for the lights, but closing the roof once play has begun usually only results in ten minutes delay. When they decide to do it is anyone's guess, but will depend on when this marathon ends. If they can get the second Semi on by half-seven, my guess is they'll play for an hour or so with the roof open. Of course, if it rains in the meantime, the roof will come on, and stay on for the remainder.

I'm sure 99% of those that bought tickets for centre court wouldn't appreicate that. Stick these two on court 1 and put the main event on centre.

True.

It's not really fair either way.

The organisers really should have known this was a likely outcome and had these on court 1. Sure the Djokovic vs Nadal match would sell out first, but those not being able to get a ticket would surely have settled to see the Isner vs Anderson match than nothing.

I know Wimbledon has a huge tradition and all that, but the length of this match is severely jeopardising the finish of the next semi final and fitness of the winner here for the final itself.
Final set 10-10, then have a tie break.

That was my thought earlier.

What is the point of not having a tie break? I don't see how having games is any more of a fair outcome or anything.

Anderson is breezing through his service game. If he can get a string of decent returns the game is his. Isner is spent.

They should have changed the rules immediately after that Isner/Mahut match which went to 70-68. It's all very amusing when nobody cares about the relative no hopers in the early rounds but it's going to ruin this weekend.
