Windows 10

All of which aren't remotely productive applications at all. If you are using your device as an entertainment platform then I'd agree that the app approach works.
For people wishing to actually do work on a computer then they're a useless fluffy pain in the arse

He was talking about media apps.
And I also said use the best software available. sometimes that's x86, sometimes that modern apps.
Most people use computers for everything, not one or another.
And no they aren't a pain in the rear, it's not like they suddenly open up whist using an x86 app.

And you haven't seen w10 apps obviously.
Like Maya they showed off. Full fledged Maya, that changes with continuum depending what's plugged in.

So is that modern app useless? It's full fledged Maya with extras.

The future is everything will very slowly move to modern apps. Modern apps aren't just touch focused they are everything, designed to run on everything. Especially with continuum.
Look up Maya in keynotes day 1 from the build conference. That's the future.

Metro Modern apps can and should be built to ruin on phones, desktops, laptops, tablets, watches and consoles. But they are not. The vast majority are touch focused. You can use a keyboard and mouse oh them, but its rarely optimised enough to provide a good user experience.

You do realise there is a massive overhaul on them in w10.
Go watch keynote and the Maya demonstration, which shows off continuum, full featured software that runs in different modes depending on what it's plugged into.

On top of that there are many media apps in w8.1 which have a far better UI and UX than the desktop versions. Regardless off input method.

No real benefit, and a lot of draw backs. Things not working and issues.

It's the same with any beta, only use it if you want to experiment and don't mind working around issues. If that's not for you then don't use beta software.
See so many complaints from people who shouldn't have installed it at this stage if development.

Thank god for Sliverlight being listed! Hopefully Sky will drop it some time this millennia.

Agreed, however at least they now have a windows 8.1 app.
Although I can't switch all my systems to it yet. As it detects it as a different system, so can only do one a month

They're a business, and pretty much a monopoly in terms of operating systems for typical use. Windows must have originally made MS money as they released new versions every few years, but I assume not so much any more hence stopping it. Did they not make money from Windows then?

They did but it's been falling.
Again keynote is a good place if you want info. they even have a nice revenue graph before and after.

They will not ban people from selling 3rd party software outside the store, in fact they've appeared to make it easier. Although there's not much details on it.

They make there money from services, office 365, one drive, app store, business support, Skype, Xbox movies/music etc. Which is also why they're selling those services on ios/android.

It'll be more than a few months. Likely October.
It's upto you as long as you are ok running beta software and the issues that can bring.
It's pretty darn stable other than things they are working on like start menu. But actual games and other software is fine.
Only real issue I've had is with a sound card driver, which I just can't get working on pc. But laptop works fine.

I updated last night and got to 10074 and I'm on fast ring

Yeah, sorry 1074

why not just sign in and use Xbox music.
It's what I do, I don't buy music fro, Xbox but still use it. Does all I need from a music player.

anyone had this happen and any ideas if it's a setting some where or a bug?
