Windows 10

but either way it wouldn't make much difference even if it just appears in Windows Update because you can just untick it if you don't want to install it straight away

That approach would be a disaster for anyone with automatic updates enabled, especially businesses!

One thing I can 100% guarantee is that you will need to make a concious effort to do "something" to get the Windows 10 update. It will not just simply happen through an automatic update.

thats not getting my knickers in a twist., im giving my opinions and what i think/feel. if u don't like what i post then simply ignore them and don't reply there's no rule saying u must reply... . no need to get rude ok,

also i have already said i hope it's not like that

lets leave it as that now

Fine. Given I do not value your opinions based on those in this thread I shall add you the ignore list as you request.

Have a nice day.

hmm, true or not?
Unless I've missed something I don't get how this can be news worthy except as click bait.

If you have a licensed copy of Windows 7 or 8 you are entitled to upgrade to Windows 10 for no charge as long as you do it within one year of the release of Windows 10. Should you choose to upgrade more than 1 year and 1 day from W10 release date you'll have to pay for the upgrade.

If you're buying Windows 10 from scratch with no underlying license to upgrade from you'll pay whatever the going rate is.

Similarly if you have an OS earlier than Windows 7 or 8 (i.e. Vista and earlier)you have to pay should you choose to upgrade to Windows 10.

Seems pretty straight forward to me...

did u even read the quote in the post?? the post was about xp/vista upgrading to w10 free for 1 year... it doesn't say anything about 7/8.1, in that quote i posted

IF Microsoft does this it may be good for users who are still on xp/vista to try w10 for a year before paying for xp/vista users.

i don't get why some people are getting funny when i post something or quote something that i feel some people may find interesting or may want to discus..

Absolutely nothing Microsoft has said has even hinted in the slightest that XP or Vista users will get free upgrades.

What you posted was just a random made up article designed to get people like you worked up.

Edit: Ha! That article has even been upated by the author now to remove the points about XP and Vista getting free upgrades

i guess i have to remember this if some other people quote/post something from a random site or something it's ok people don't say much, but when i do it it's different...

when i posted the quote. people only had to say it's a good chance that it's fake or something. job done...

i don't go around saying something like stop getting my knickers in a twist when some people quote/post something from a random site or something.. i know it's not offensive but it's not needed.

let's all move on topic now

:D

On topic:

After having a multitude of little problems, it looks like I'll have to do a fresh install over the weekend...

New Catalyst drivers from AMD, wonder if they fix the issues for the Win10 users, too little too late for me, I'm on 8.1 now and its fine for Diablo3 and Elite Dangerous...

I'm quite new to all these builds, but looking back at the 9XXX versions on Youtube, I much preferred the look of the Start Menu there. Looked a lot more traditional for the 'All Apps' section.
