Windows 10

type "netplwiz" into cmd prompt without the quotations.

In the thing that comes up, UNtick the require users to login with a password. Hit ok and it will prompt for username and password.

The username will already be filled, make sure to change this to your full email you use to login to windows.

Put password in. hit ok. reboot

You will now login every time without needing to put your password in and still be able to use the windows store and all those goodies.

Windows 7 are the last best operating system. Microsoft ought to ashamed themselves!

I just don't understand this, I much prefer 8.1 to 7, there are just so many nice little bits. I use 7 at work and find myself missing features all the time.

I also don't understand why people want to dig around in a pokey start menu for apps when you can have all your shortcuts organised full screen. It takes a fraction of a second to swap from the start screen back to the desktop.

I have no use for metro apps on my desktop, so I just don't use them. I spend all my time on the desktop. I cannot find a single reason I would want to go back to 7, it's already starting to feel old.

Agreed, but it would mean you cannot use the Calendar feature, as that requires Microsoft account. I want the Gmail calendar be synchronised into Calendar, but that won't happen.

So, in a nutshell, it's their "do it my way, or go elsewhere" mantra that's putting a lot of W7 lovers off. I'll be sticking with Linux, as they don't force you to do something you don't want to.

I don't get what you're expecting. Why are you surprised that a Microsoft app requires a Microsoft Account? You aren't forced to use it there are plenty of other calendar applications available which you can use.

you can set windows 8, 8.1 and 10 to auto signin guys... this is possible...

read my post above or just google windows 8 password login

just type netplwiz into cmd prompt, untick the "require sign in" box, put email and password in popup. done. takes 3 seconds, and persists forever.

Thanks Windows 10 Technical Preview Setup!

I've gone with the installer that triggers update via Windows update.

Been 90 minutes and all I've got so far are 4 Failed logs in Windows update, and now its "Making sure your ready to install", and has been for 10 minutes....

The dumbed down messages actually mean I have no idea whats going on or why its failing. It just "Checks my PC", tells me "I'm set" and that "Something happened", and then fails.

Which was?

Edit: Argh! The installer just grabbed focus while I was typing so I pressed whatever was default on whatever the screen said, and now its gone. And its failed again.

I just ran the ISO from within 8.1 and did an upgrade. It took about ten mins and now it's all done. It's a lot snappier than 8.1 I'm liking so far....

Is there a way to remove the watermark from the desktop ?

Chucked this in a VM and I am chuffed with the "unpin from start" in the tile right click menu.

As a preview of the GUI I think M$ have finally listened to users and professionals, shows a lot of potential.

Good job M$, apart from this bloody stupid haircut...
