Windows 10

Ace Modder - Microsoft should have added google hangout not microsoft skype! :)

Bulldog, MS would not do this. MS owns Skype and would install that rather than MS's rivals with Google's Hangout. It won't work.

MS does, however, allow anyone to install non-MS apps, like Google Hangouts on their OS anyhow. :)

There must be thousand of Windows 10 ' Secret hiddens ' but Microsoft will NOT telling us!

Bulldog, yes, quite possibly. There's a HUGE plethora of audit trails and electronic fingerprints all over the registry keys and internal kernal routines... They hide in undecipherable hex-decimal folder names! What's in them is anyone's guess.

Scary though.

:(

Ahhh, there's the caveat you've just disclosed! So, it is not FREE then. Are you saying that W10 is likely to be chargeable at some point in the near future?

No, I'm saying Windows isn't free. Never has been free. Never will be free.

You have to pay for a Windows license. What you don't have to do anymore, and haven't since 8.1, is pay again to upgrade to the latest version. But you still need to purchase a license.

Linux is FREE all the way! Microsoft isn't FREE!

The whole point is pretty silly when preview version of windows still required silly product keys even the windows trial expiry in October 2015.

You may be correct, but there are probably 80% of people out there who are not 'geeky' enough to know how to disable them, though? It would be nice to have MS offer some options, like tick boxes / ON-OFF / Yes/No, etc to some features, thus no need for technical how-to fixes...

Your thoughts?

Best

T.

Why would Microsoft offer a way to reduce their profit?... when the 80% you quote probably don't even know/ care about the adverts?

Just like Facebook having tailored ads based on usage and search history...
Google too, after it's a money making machine...

Linux is free, but there are still paid versions of free software...

This probably has something to do with statistics;)

I imagine Microsoft want to know how many people are using Beta software to gauge it's effectiveness as a way of testing...

I haven't actually entered a single product key so far with Windows 10 installs :S not sure why. (Surprised as I was sent a load of the keys as if I'd need them and never been prompted to enter one once - unless that comes once it goes "retail").

Wow all this MS bashing is annoying. If you wanna go and use Linux, then go post in the Linux forums.

Windows will always be popular no matter what people think. Most games are windows, development work stations and software people are familiar with. Not to mention its more user friendly than Linux.

I personally can't wait for Windows 10 and DX 12, and see if they have updated IIS. All my games, and development software is windows.

I used Linux exclusively at home for 2 years, my main PC, the Mrs and girls laptops and I switched back because it is literally too much hassle to keep everything going without considerable down time spent researching and fixing problems. Windows is great.

If this info is indeed correct, I think I will stick with 10162 for now, and wait until the 15th July to see what happens then.

My preference is to install from an official ISO download from scratch onto a 'clean' drive, in a spare laptop, and to check it out from there.

Yeah I checked the info was corrected matched strings found on buildfeed.net.

Build 10240 is now listed compiled on Thur, build 10256 should been compiled yesterday Friday and now Saturday I think we probably see 2 builds 10272 and 10288 compiled today then another 2 builds on Sunday, Monday, Tue and finally build 10400 on Wed. If not then 1 build a day would see build 10400 compiled on 19 July but it would not give OEMs enough time to mastered images on every new PCs in 1 week until 29 July release.

Build 10176 EN RU version had been leaked.

Found original untouched ISO provided by Microsoft Insider and downloaded on utorrent at blaze fast speed surprised completed in just 15 mins and now installing on VM. :D

So far so good, managed to take screenshot of desktop.

No build watermark.

Also noticed there are no MSN Food & Drink, MSN Health & Fitness and MSN Travel apps listed in build 10176. Neowin confirmed Microsoft will be no longer supported and updated these apps soon and the apps will be removed.
