Windows 10

By the way, for those who did manage to install through Windows update, did you reserve your copy of Windows 10 very early on, or through the Insider programme ? I'm just wondering if anyone who wasn't in beta etc has managed to install through Windows Update ...

Reserved my copy at about 6pm on the 28th, started downloading it at 8ish and it started to install at about 10. Never took part in the insider programme and seems to be working very well apart from Unreal Tournament 2004 not working in fullscreen.

Jus attempted to upgrade the old rig to 10 again, yesterday it stalled at 24% today at 20%? Has anyone else had this issue?

It worked fine first go on my main rig yesterday so a bit confused.

You say 'old' rig. How old? Maybe a compatibility issue?

Tried again from ISO and after first reboot my screen was just black, waited around 15 minutes and nothing happened so powered off and restored to Windows 8.1. Got this error:

I must have gotten the best O/S deal in history :D

SIX years ago I bought five office computers which came with Vista Business edition, I was given a Windows XP Professional downgrade key with each one. Then because of the timeframe when I bought them I also received a Windows 7 Professional upgrade key, bonus. Then when Windows 8 came out I was able to buy a Windows 8 pro key for each one for £25 a pop.

Today I am getting Windows 10 Pro for free TEN TIMES, five for the Win 7 pro keys I received as free upgrades for my Vista Business keys, and five for the Wind 8 Pro keys that I bought for cheap as upgrades for the aforementioned Win 7 Pro keys.

TLDR: I bought five computers, Microsoft game me another twenty O/S keys for free and let me buy another five for 30% RRP.

Lets hope you get 10 x Simple installs!

Hmm, is it actually creating a duplicate of the directory? Or is it just somehow mirroring it? As my directories were blank I couldn't really tell. Wondering if you could delete it if it duplicates - might be worth testing out on a new directory with some random files in first :D

It seems to be some sort of GUI bug or something. Once I create the documents folder on my E drive and then change the location of the C drive documents to E. If I create a text file or something in the new E documents folder, once it's created the Documents duplicates in the side bar.

If I refresh the side bar it instantly disappears. It's annoying because it makes me wonder if I'm doing it right!

Your speech is most likely set to US

My guess is your default install language was US? You need to go to Time and language in settings > Region and Language > Install the UK pack. Keyboard / Speech / Handwriting.

Restart

Go to Time / language and > speech change it to UK (it will now be an option.)

She should now work for you.

Ahh now you mention it, yes i think you could be right. I do remember with the install it had language set to US ENGLISH - the only one available, but keyboard settings was set United Kingdom. I guess the iso was US only. I'll look at installing a language pack - thanks.

Well, done all the updates on my Win 7 Sp1 laptop, but no sign of any windows 10 icon/notification to update etc. theres nothing on my laptop that gives me anything at all re win 10.

On my desktop I thought the upgrade was stuck at 91% but I checked the disk activity and it was still thrashing around so left it for an hour and it completed

Took about 5 hours to do the upgrade
