- today the Get Windows 10 thing has disappeared

Mine is just sitting in a constant ''please wait'' loop when I click on the icon. Just to confirm does that mean I am not in the first phase or should it be telling me I am in or not? It's as if its just stuck at opening.
 
Well since I upgraded to W10 on my lappy (HP Pavillion) I have been having problems with shutting down and sleep mode.

The screen would go blank as if the laptop had turned off/entered sleep mode, but the power light would stay lit.

The only way out of it would be to hold the power button down till it turned off.

I have disabled "turn on fast start-up" in the power settings and that seems to have cured it so far.

Just go the iso route if you want to upgrade today lol.
 
2 backups failed after wasting 3hrs of my life each time.

Related to reparse points. WTF is a reparse point and how the hell would your average joe who just wants a system image from their new install, know? I did disable my 1tb drive because the crock backup tool wants to back up the entire computer. Meh
 
Got everything just so on a fresh install...

Upgraded from win 8.1 via windows update, forced activation by bashing the activate button.

Eventually activated as Windows 10 Home

Ran the media creation thingy from here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Selected get ISO >> Windows 10 Home.

Burnt ISO to Disk, removed Ethernet from computer, installed from Disk selecting: Run Setup >> Something else >> deleted all the partitions on C and made a new one >> install.

Was asked for Product Key twice during instillation, always skip this.

Successful instal, reconnected Ethernet, installed GPU Drivers, Steam ecte.... rebooted a couple of times and checked to see if it activated on its own, it did.

Maybe that will help someone. :)

Clean install with the DVD i have created

Restore

I can do a fresh install from either way?
 
Its up to you, Clean install from the dvd will make sure that nothing survives. Restore inside windows could leave some things behind.

Also have you tried going to the target folder directly and creating a document? When I go through documents folder it doesn't do it but when I go directly to the folder location it duplicates.

Has anyone figured out how to change the password entry background? I had a look in gpedit but it only has lock and start screen settings.

Ah, yes it does but the extra icon vanishes on its own instantly stays up for like <.2 of a second.
 
ATTN: Anyone trying to upgrade when the Americans are awake, you might get the odd problem! Morning GMT worked a treat!

I had no idea that wasn't allowed, the disks were ALL OVER ebay a month ago for about £14!!! I might have bought one and upgraded an old Vista laptop to W7, then clean installed it up to W10.

Just as well I did, because my main laptop is now the old Vista, and my 8.1 laptop bricked with the official upgrade! I'll fix that another day.
 
Mouse button settings?

Has anyone found out how to set up middle wheel clicks and back button clicks etc ... driving me mad not having a back button on my mouse!
