Windows 10

how long do you need to wait as its saying will notify when ready, Already upgraded to win 10 on my laptop but my main rig seems to be delayed

Strange, when I do it it makes me choose between two accounts even though I only have one and once I have selected it I have to enter a password.

Entering password is normal for netplwiz... it requires you to enter the details you choose to sign it with... it has done this since at least Vista, maybe earlier.

As for two accounts when you only expected one... what is the other account? Are you sure you never created it? Where might it have come from?

I only had one when I did the same thing on Win 10 Pro only moments ago...

If you let this update go through naturally, i.e. wait for Windows 7 to download it and then inform you of it being ready, how long does it take until it downloads? My little icon has disappeared from the system tray and nothing has happened. It just says Windows 10 is reserved in the Windows Update panel on the Control Panel.

Just to warn you all. If your going for a fresh install following an upgrade Microsoft are having issues where as its not authorising. Spoke to two of their online techs who advise they are aware and should have resolved within 24hours.

It asks me for a password upon entering windows after a reboot/cold boot, I do not mean when I am turn it off in netplwiz.

Managed to get all my drivers working for E series Vaio :) This was on an old build of win10 insider, downloading the full thing now. Luckily found a photo of my win7 sticker in my dropbox from 2 years ago as its horribly faded/rubbed to bits now. So glad i planned ahead and did it just incase

Can i still set a second drive as a primary location for downloads/documents/music/videos etc?

Made a USB bootable device and tested it and it works so I'm gunna get a spare SSD from my room and install that which awesomely will take 2 seconds and install my Win7 on that and dual boot to it to get Win10 on my own Win7 key.

Why am I doing this? if you didn't see my posts yesterday a few years ago I got a corporate Win7 Ultimate key which I'm still using. I forgot about it and reserved against this key.

Loving Win 10 so far but i wont hold my breath. Yet to do a clean install. May attempt that tomorrow!

Performed a clean install today.
Loads of drivers missing, had to install win8.1 chipset and mei drivers manually after. Still got one exclamation mark driver which is related to the intel network driver but.not bothered yet as network works fine.

I also had to change network.type from public.to private. Theres a ton more options when doing a clean install too during setup process giving more control instead of having to go searching for settings.

Image created phew, thats me done for now :)

No time frame i'm afraid it'll just do it when its ready.
