Windows 10

I think I have the same issue, mine aren't running at full speed either and I can't work out why. I hadn't thought it could be the OS but you could be right.

Yeah, I installed Windows 10 on my friend's PC recently, but I didn't think to check at the time. He uses a motherboard with the same controller and the same SSD, just a single one.

What sort of speeds are you getting in AS SSD and what SSDs are you using?

It reads to me like an issue with your Controller, maybe the drivers for it still need to be able for full compatibility with Windows 10?

I was thinking it might have been something like this, I did have a play around with drivers to see if there was anything new.

Google isn't returning much in the way of searches either unfortunately. I've been tempted to RAID the 2 Sandisk Ultra Plus SSDs (as they're new, I haven't used them properly yet) I've got and installing Windows 10 on them to see if I get different results.

Installed the latest build this evening.
9879

It's flying along :)

Is there a way to re-enable the charms bar shortcut. WIN + C works, but I want the mouse one.

Gotten used to shutting down the PC using the top right mouse cursor..

Seems like a backwards move to add it back into the Start menu :/

nope, the setting still doesn't work.
right click taskbar > properties > navigation

but as I say it still doesn't do anything.
at least win + c works now. not even that worked on the first build.

That worked fine for me? I've been using win + c since first Windows 10 preview.

Microsoft released Windows 10 build 9879 x86 and x64 ISOs for everyone who want clean installation to save time download preview builds again.

http://www.neowin.net/news/windows-10-isos-of-build-9879-are-now-available

Thanks for this, used this link to download an ISO to test on a spare hdd.

Seems quite nice so far, a couple of niggles though, such as dark backgrounds making text unreadable in the Title Bar (still not fixed from Windows 8.1, Windows 7 & Vista were fine) and the file explorer button at the bottom should open up "This PC" not "Home" (like it does on 8.1) or at least you should be able to choose.

Other than that, seems pretty good.

When windows 8 first came out there were a lot of haters as MSFT weren't offering the legacy desktop version so I'm hoping windows 10 will finally shut those people up as options are being given.

I just got used to windows 8 and learnt to love it but after trying windows10 on a VM, I must say that I think I will move back to the start menu, it is very good.

In terms of performance between the two and also considering that Windows 10 was running on a VM I think the performace is very good. In terms of application support with what I have tried so far its all very good with no issues so far.

The only thing I am a bit concerned with is the control panel. I know msft are looking to migrate the control panel to the new look, I just hope it works well and has all the correct options

Im looking forward to seeing the next update :)

im going to be doing the same thing, downloading the ISO now and going to give it a try on a VM to see what its like before I remove windows 7 or considering to move over

TF2 crashed for me after about 30 mins :/

It's never crashed in 8.1 for me.

If it keeps happening, I'll have to dual boot

I've got a new Crucial MX100 512Gb and it reads at 350 and writes at 250 so much slower than it should do iirc?

That's within a few percent of the speeds I'm getting with my 2 new SanDisk Ultra plus 256GB SSDs, and I got my friend to run it on his PC, he got around 450 read and 120 write on a single Intel 330 128GB SSD, which is roughly half of what what I've been getting on 2 of the same Intel drices in RAID.

We all have Gigabyte motherboards with Intel drive controllers too. How strange.

Hows people getting on using Windows Media Centre in the Win 10 preview? Tempted to install it on both of my computers.

Windows Media Centre died in XP imo.

Switch to something else. Kodi (XBMC) is fantastic

Would do but after all these years nothing can do live TV properly apart from WMC. Kodi is buggy, takes 5 secs to switch between channels if it doesn't crash otherwise it be perfect.

Anyone else getting graphics corruption on the desktop with the new build? Its been solid on the last two, but this latest one I keep get elements disappearing, or appearing as solid black.

Gaming and videos don't seem to be effected, it's purely on the desktop/browser/windows/start menu etc.

that sounds like you don't have it in a 6gbps sata port.

If it is that slow then i would send it back to be honest as its meant to be 510/480 based on benchmarks.

did you enable AHCI and sata3 in the bios?

Use atto diskbenchmark on default setting and post screen shot http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Benchmarks/ATTO-Disk-Benchmark.shtml

I have had this a few times in the browser firefox only. Refreshing the page or minimizing the tab and reopening it solves it. amd 7850
