Windows 10

Another thing to add to the "I don't like list"

Why are the minimise, full screen & close buttons massive ?!? They are farrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr too big.

Pre-Jan builds were so much better in every single possible way.

Cortana could be useful for me when I'm in bed, If its possible to just yell "Hey Cortana turn the PC off"

Count me in too! The apps area of the start menu should adjust itself to what it has to contain as the last build. Again the method of adding apps to the start should be sliding and not click right and choose 'add to start'.

If enough people put in comments this might change by the next build.

I wasn't impressed with not being able to use Cortana either!

I have not tried windows 10 yet and downloaded the new build, is it worth holding off if the issues listed above are that bad or is it still a decent build in terms of stability etc?

Seems to have fixed my cs go issue. Will be testing later tonight to check and then I can uninstall my win 8 partition.
Also currently installing on DVP so can look at touch bits.

Well, this update is a complete abortion compared to the previous.

The start menu looks like a bag of crap, the lack of transparency makes it look like something in high contrast mode, I STILL don't want to be dicking about with the pointless Metro style app crap and am still having to strip all the superfluous junk out.

I understand some people like using a Fisher Price inspired cluster **** of pointless apps, but Jesus wept just keep it all separate and have it as an option on install.
Want a standard Windows desktop experience with all of the security and technological advancements? Great, click Classic.
Want all the bells and whistles of a tablet interface then click Metro.
I've downgraded to 7 again this afternoon

Played any latest games on the Windows Store yet? Nope, me neither.

I play FIFA 15 UT on the surface a fair bit (ok I'm a *****)

Just unpin the apps if you want.

Where is general start menu/screen search?

I have this stupid magnifying glass on the taskbar.

The universal search was rather handy I thought. This is a shocker - lol.

Feedback sent.

first thing I did on my vm was install classic shell 4.2, this removed the silly search menu that appears in the task bar and gave me back the windows 7 task bar that I like.

apart from that I haven't used the OS much

I do not get that.

I get this:

When I type, nothing happens.

the search box appears in the task bar at the very bottom next to the start button

like this

ED209, thank you.

I have my taskbar snapped to the right of the screen, vertically.

When so, no search is visible.

The new search is not to my liking thus far I have to say.

I like the new taskbar and the new group start menu but now can't resize the start menu which is worse than last build. Can see what they have tried to do, remove the old pinned to start and replace it with the blocks. I hope this gets changes before final release all they have to do is being back the resize option and the pinned to start option but can't see it happening. Those new apps are still useless and the control panel as well.

You can disable the horrid search box on the task bar with a simple right click -- search -- disabled. It still appears when you you hit the start button, but at least it's not sitting there permanently looking ugly and taking up valuable space.

Not keen on not being able to resize the start menu after removing apps. Haven't found any obvious way of doing that ... yet ;)

Coming from XP all I want is a classic look with all the bells and whistles behind giving it more performance, reliability and security. And if I can talk to it well that’s a new spin on things. But I hate that Fisher Price look. I thought they had learned there lesson with this sort of thing. I seriously hope its on the install options. Good thing is you guys can fire in your feed back and please do.
